"What future for the Labour Party?"
The Labour Party has reached a crossroads. The turning to the right – currently steered by Starmer and Evans – risk taking it into electoral obscurity and condemn the labour movement to be unrepresented on the political stage for the foreseeable future.
A turn to the left – first championed under Corbyn’s leadership – can provide the transformative, socialist-led government that society so desperately needs.
For anyone on the left, the Party is becoming an empty shell promoting Blair 2.0 at a time when pursuing a middle of the road course risks a crash into oblivion.
With the Party Conference imminent, Sheffield Labour Left is hosting an opportunity for socialists to consider the routes ahead.
Graham Bash, a leading figure on the Labour left for decades, currently under attack from the auto expulsion hit squad, will be speaking at the meeting providing a context for a debate on where to next for socialists in the Labour Party.
There will be plenty of time for questions and contributions as to what this all means for the determined Left and the Labour Party itself.
Speaker: Graham Bash - Labour Party member for 52 years, Political Officer JVL, Political Secretary LRC, Labour Briefing editorial Board member.
