I hope to see some of you at Chappaqua Station tonight! I will be joined by Assaf Gleizner (piano) and Tristen Napoli (trumpet) at one of Westchester's newest spots. I love this vintage-inspired cafe located in the old Metro-North train station and I'm wonderfully excited to perform there for my local friends. You'll want to try their farm-to-table food, wine, teas and desserts while you're listening. SO GOOD!

If you are an active Kickstarter supporter, or have been following the project, you know that I'm due to release a debut album. This project now has an official name: Elvanelle & The Escape Act. It is a personal curation of American Song and originals, backed by a jazz ensemble. I like to think this project reinvents the traditional song as a mode for human connection across age, background, form and belief. I hope you love the journey as much as we did. I will let you know when pre-sales go live this Spring, or you can contact me and I will add you to the list for pre-orders. For now, please enjoy the above teaser video for my version of a traditional folk song (with Mark McLean on drums).

I am also reaching out to gauge interest in House Concert Hosting. Since this is an intimate project, I'm inspired to explore the album release in a more intimate way: through house concerts across New York and hopefully beyond. If you are interested in hosting a performance this Summer or Fall, please be in touch! I am seeking music-loving hosts who can fill their home or private venue with 20-30+ friends, neighbors and colleagues for a night of music, connection and inspiration. Salon-style! Events can be BYOB/Potluck or hosts may choose a different form of presenting that works for them. I will play a 60-75 minute set of music from the album plus recent discoveries and old favorites. Mingling to precede or follow. Guests would pay a nominal fee for a terrific event or we would ask for donation-based admission to musician costs. Let's talk about the details! NYC, Nyack, Albany, Westchester, Philly, Savannah, Florida....East Coast hit me up!
A thought for today: DON'T DELAY JOY
How easy is it to get caught up in the news lately? Or to spend way too much time on social media? Staying informed is important, but don't forget to take care of your spirit, too! We can only bring more good into the world if we are able to take care of ourselves and bring positive energy into our own lives first. Get up and dance to your favorite song. Draw a picture even though you're a "terrible artist". Call a friend. Take 10 minutes out of your day to meditate, stretch, sip tea or make a list of what you're thankful for. Time spent radiating happiness is always time well spent, because it rapidly spreads to others!

Big shout-out to my new friends at Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake High School. I was thrilled to join the school's Jazz Band and Select Choir in their Winter Concert. I was so impressed with their style, attitude and talent! Congratulations to all.
This winter also brought me back to SUNY Purchase - this time to work with High School students through their PAWS Jazz Vocal workshop. I think High School students are my favorite to work with - ready to use their strength and independence to try out a new passion. I'm excited to continue Arts-in-Education, Group Classes and Private Music Instruction this year through my private studio (NYC) and also with organizations such as Music in Chappaqua, Music to Your Home (Rockland), and a variety of public and private schools. I teach Vocal Technique, Piano, Jazz Singing, Musical Theatre, Vocal Improv, Group Vocal Improv and Rock Band in Manhattan, Westchester, Rockland County and NJ. If you have a middle or high-school aged student interested in Vocal performance, I will be co-teaching the SUNY Purchase Summer Vocal Intensive again with Regina Leon Summer 2017.

Please contact me personally to book my American Song project, Jazz Ensemble or The Swingaroos Territory Band for concerts, event entertainment, and education outreach.

May you all have a fabulously inspired Winter break. I look forward to seeing you and sharing the new music with you soon!
