DV'S DESK
Dear Ones,
You should have received a 2023 Pledge Card recently. Please let us know if you have not received yours and we will make sure to get a card to you.
We will gather our 2023 Commitment cards on Sunday, 6 November. We’ll present our completed cards as part of the Offering and ask God’s blessings upon them If you are unable to be with us on the 6th, you may send your cards to the church post office box or bring them in during office hours.
As you and I prepare to fill out our cards, I offer the following Scriptures as we reflect upon giving of our time, talent, and treasure to St. Mark’s:
All things come of thee, and of thine own have we given thee. 1 Chronicles 29:14 (KJV)
They are like trees planted by streams of water, which yield their fruit in its season, and their leaves do not wither. In all that they do, they prosper. Psalm 1:3
Commit your work to the LORD and your plans will be established. Proverbs 16:3
But those who wait for the LORD shall renew their strength, they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint. Isaiah 40:31
Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust consume and where thieves break in and steal; but store up for yourselves treasures in heaven. Matthew 6:19-20a
Everyone then who hears these words of mine and acts on them will be like a wise man who built his house on rock. The rain fell, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house, but it did not fall, because it had been founded on rock. Matthew 7:24-25
For what will it profit them if they gain the whole world but forfeit their life? Or what will they give in return for their life? Matthew 16:26
Give, and it will be given to you; good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over, will be put back into your lap; for the measure you give will be the measure you get back. Luke 6:38
Faithfully Yours,
Dawn-Victoria+

All are welcome to join us as we get our hearts
and minds ready for Christmas. We’ll get a jump
start by beginning on Wednesday, 9 November at
7pm. The Advent study is by Zoom only due to
the early darkness and chancy weather we can
have here.
We are using Adam Hamilton’s The Journey
series. Hamilton is the Senior Pastor of The
United Methodist Church of the Resurrection in
Leawood, Kansas. The Journey includes short
videos filmed in the Holy Land and discussion.
Please let Dawn-Victoria know if you’d like to participate so she can send you the Zoom link. The link will also be published in the bulletin and on Realm. There is a companion book available for those who may want to dig deeper, however it is not necessary for participation.

A Prayer for My Church
My Church is composed of people like me.
I help make it what it is.
It will be friendly if I am.
Its pews will be filled, if I help fill them.
It will do great work, if I work.
It will make generous gifts to many causes,
if I am a generous giver.
It will bring other people
into its worship and fellowship,
if I invite and bring them.
It will be a church of loyalty and love,
of fearlessness and faith,
and a church with a noble spirit,
if I, who make it what it is,
am filled with these same things.
Therefore, with the help of God,
I shall dedicated myself
to the task of being all the things
that I want my church to be.
AMEN.
