Hello everyone! I hope you are all keeping safe. I'd like to reiterate to any organisations in need of COVID-19 related volunteer assistance, that the Queensland Government's Care Army is here to help. You can find information in this newsletter on how to engage them.
There are also some exciting events coming up in October that you may like to check out as well as opportunities for free training in infection control through our partners at Daisy Learning. Until next month,

Sunshine Coast Refugee Action Network is hosting a special screening of Saint Judy.
Saint Judy tells the inspirational true story of immigration attorney Judy Wood and her fight that changed American asylum law forever.
In her first case, Judy represents a woman forced to flee her home country after being persecuted by the Taliban for opening a school for girls. While juggling her life as a single mother, Judy fights tenacious battles in and out of court, not only saving her client's life, but changing the Law of Asylum in the United States.
This case has saved the lives of thousands of other persecuted women around the world. Saint Judy tells the story of a remarkable woman who overcame tremendous odds, and reminds us how one person can change the world.
This film is rated PG-13.

Queensland Care Army
In response to the COVID-19 crisis, the Queensland Government has mobilised the 'Care Army', a group of everyday Queenslanders who want to help older and vulnerable people living in the community who may not have a wide circle of friends, family or neighbours who can support them during the pandemic.
The primary focus of the Care Army is social connection and lending a helping hand to supply essential services such as the delivery of groceries and medicines for Queensland’s seniors and most vulnerable.
If you are affiliated with an organisation in need of volunteers or want to find out more about how Care Army volunteers can work in your organisation or with your teams across Queensland, Townsville or Cairns communities and surrounds, please contact one of the following and a friendly member of the team will take you through the process of engaging a Care Army Volunteer.
