Boomers leave space, How do you know customers will ever come back?

Boomers will leave a big empty space
With or without the past three years of ‘health care crisis’ there still would be a health care crisis, as 73 Million Americans and 10M Canadians ‘baby boomers’ are close or over 70, which is when they experience increased health issues, yet they do not contribute enough in tax or retirement savings to cover these increasing health care costs. They also will leave an empty space, to be filled by other people in work, housing, and consumer goods purchases.
How do you know customers will ever come back? you don’t!
While training a health food store team this week I was reminded of the importance of finding ways to invite customers back to the store, those who have shopped with you once but may forget you exist after they walk out the door.
The power of a data base, finding ways to connect with a customer ongoing is vital to maintain a vibrant business, here are a few suggestions to consider:
Data Base – consistently connect with customers, to offer healthy solutions, special savings and events!

- Phone number
- Loyalty card
- Handouts
- Free Books
- Coupons
- Store Newsletter
- Educational charts

Influenza cases are on the rise in the United States with over 1300 hospitalizations and 9 deaths during the first week of October. Respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) is rising sharply, and another 898 people died with Covid-19 as a primary or contributing cause of death. The list of Covid-19 variants continues to grow: BA.5, BA.4.6, BF.7, BQ.1, BQ.1.1. In Uganda, the Sudan Ebola virus has afflicted at least 80 people and killed 44. The World Health Organization recently reminded us that in spite of the persistent threat of infectious diseases, heart disease and cancer remain the leading killers of humans worldwide.

Helping Your Body Detoxify Pollutants and Contaminants (Xenobiotics)
Since the end of World War II, more than 85,000 chemicals have been created by humans (drugs, food additives, by-products of manufacturing, mining etc.). The Phase II enzyme systems that the human body uses to detoxify most of these foreign substances involves attaching these substances (or their metabolites) to:
· Glucuronic acid
· Sulfuric acid
or
· Glutathione
The body has no trouble synthesizing glucuronic acid. However, sulfuric acid detoxification (sulfation pathway) is supported by sufficient intake of vitamin B12, folic acid, magnesium, vitamin B6 and the mineral molybdenum. These are common components of most multiple vitamin and mineral supplements.
To support glutathione synthesis in the body you can consider using a whey protein drink, or supplementing with N-acetylcysteine. Some studies suggest that consuming alcohol-free beer raises glutathione as does the consumption of almonds. One study showed that meditation increases glutathione levels in the body. Experimentally, other substances have also been shown to support glutathione levels, which include vitamin C, vitamin E and alpha-lipoic acid supplementation.
Glutathione detoxification (conjugation) is particularly important in protecting the body against heavy metal accumulation and toxicity (mercury, cadmium) as well as persistent organic pollutants (DDT, PCB’s, chlorinated phenols, endocrine disrupting chemicals).
