Message from the Principal

Hidden Valley Families,

It is hard for me to believe how quickly time flies and that our Winter Break is here! Here’s wishing you and your families a very happy break, however you spend it. 2018 has been a wonderful and exciting time at Hidden Valley. I am so proud of our students and staff and grateful for the support from HV PTO, our school Site Council, the YES Foundation, and YOU. Your time, your generosity, your presence - it all matters and makes us better. Thank you.

On behalf of the entire staff at Hidden Valley, I wish you and yours a wonderful holiday season. I truly hope you will spend time with the people you love and that you give yourself time for personal renewal in the hustle and bustle of the holiday season.

Please note school will be closed December 24 through January 7. School will resume normal hours of operation on Tuesday, January 8, 2019.

Again, from our Hidden Valley family to yours, happy holidays and we will see you in the New Year!

With Gratitude,
Kristi Fish

Principals for the day... Aubrey and Alex hard at work!
On behalf of all the teachers and staff, thank you so very much for all of the cookies! So many different varieties to choose from! We all hope you have a wonderful and relaxing break and we'll see you in 2019!
The Green Ways Team would like to announce the January Challenge!
Students who take the highest number of green trips in the month of January will win! In addition to Wednesday scanning mornings, the Green Ways team will hold 'Surprise Scans' throughout each week to add opportunities for students to get credit for a green trip.
Enjoy the holiday break! And come our return to school, pump up your tires, strap on your helmets, arrange the carpools, and lace up your walking shoes... the challenge is on!
Prizes include school-wide recognition, gift certificates from local businesses, and the chance to become an official scanner during the month of February.
If you are not yet registered with an Active 4 Me scan tag and want to join the fun, contact Erin Hill at We will get you all set up and ready to participate in January.
Your generosity in the Adopt A Family program was overwhelming! It took 15-20 staff members over an hour to wrap everything on Monday. The Student Council members delivered them to the Adopt A Family headquarters on Wednesday after school. They were able to deliver the packages and talk with the staff at Adopt A Family. We were thanked and told that we are one of their biggest contributors and that they can count on us to assist larger families that might not get much otherwise. On behalf of the Believe, Snuggle, Grace, Pearl, Jingle Bell, Comet Families and Student Council - THANK YOU!

The C4C students enjoyed a fun last meeting this week making holiday ornaments and door hangers with inspiring quotes and sayings about hunger and helping our world. We have learned a great deal about hunger here in our own backyard in the past months and the kids have enjoyed learning how they can help make the situation a bit brighter for many. After the break we will dive head on into hunger throughout our world and really start forming action plans to make a change for good.

Also be sure to watch out for more information around our Hunger Banquet coming on Jan 30th and our screening of the award winning film “Just Eat It”  in partnership with on Jan 23rd. These are two not to miss experiences for you and your family.

And speaking of family... are you looking for something to keep your kids busy during the long Holiday break? Perhaps something where you all can give back together should be on your calendar? Check out our Volunteer Calendar for myriad of various opportunities that will leave you all feeling warm inside and knowing that you’ve made a difference in someone’s life. Sign up here if interested.

We wish you a peaceful Holiday and hope you enjoy a much needed break with your family and friends! See you in the New Year!

Our fundraising challenge is almost over, and we are just $80K away from winning a $30K challenge gift. Let’s not leave this money on the table - donate or pledge today!

All of our kids benefit from YES programs, and YES depends on donations from families to provide high quality art, music, poetry, library, and more.

As 2018 comes to a close, Give to YES - it’s tax-deductible!
