This Sunday:
Blessing of the Animals
Photo Caption:"The Animals" from Creation Series by Norman Gorbaty

This Sunday's Scriptures
Genesis 1:1, 20-28 | Psalm 148 | Galatians 6:14-18 | Matthew 11:25-30

Our liturgy commemorates Francis of Assisi, Renewer of the Church.  Made in God's image, humankind is given dominion over creation in the passage from Genesis - accompanying this authority is our responsibility to steward not only natural resources and all that sustains life, but to care for one another as well.

 Music this Sunday
All Creatures Worship God Most High, ELW 835 | God, When Human Bonds Are Broken, ELW 603 | Draw Us In Thy Spirits Tether, ELW 470 | Now Thank We All Our God, ELW 839 | Choir Anthem: "Prayer of St. Francis" by William Beckstrand

 Liturgy Notes for this Sunday
Our sung liturgy for September, October, and part of November comes from ELW Holy Communion Setting One.  This festive setting was newly published for the ELW and is comprised of movements by Mark Mummert, Thomas Pavlechko, and Robert Buckley Farlee for the hymnal.  This setting is designed to be led by organ, but is also written to work very well with piano and other instruments. We give thanks to God for this unique and festive worship setting!
This Sunday at UniLu
Join us after Service Sunday at 12th and Locust for a celebration of Philadelphia's LGBT history and LGBTQ+ community.  The festival is taking over the Gayborhood from 12:00PM-6:00PM and consists of drag shows, games, bar crawls, music, and shopping.  UniLu will have a joint table with Holy Communion Lutheran - stop by our table or volunteer!
