April News

It's cooling down now, perfect training weather!!! Don't let the cold stop you from getting out there.  All sessions continue all through winter.  We know the hard work that's put in over the cooler months pay off big time come summer.  I've included a workout that can be done anywhere, even on rainy days - no excuses!!

Client Profile - Carolyn

“The Big Ten”
"It’s been just over 10 years now that I’ve been training with Manal, starting about 10 weeks after the birth of my first child.  I’m ever so grateful for being introduced to her and her Personal Training sessions – training every week with Manal has changed my life and given me a much greater level of confidence in my capabilities. I am fitter and stronger than I was in my younger years which is a great feeling!
I still remember quite clearly saying to Manal many years ago that I’d love to be able to run the whole 7km Bay Run, but thought that it was simply not possible for me to do that.  Through Manal’s support, encouragement and training, I have gone on to run not only the 7km, but also two half marathons, and continue to run two to three times a week with a wonderful friend that I also met through our training sessions.
Training with Manal through the various sessions she offers has been great – I’ve trained with babies and young kids, through and right up until the week my second child was born, and now that they are both at school, get up and get a great start to the day with her early morning sessions.  Training sessions are with a great bunch of people - we work hard and have a few laughs – good for both the physical and emotional wellbeing.  I love the variety of the sessions, with a mix of running, boxing and strength, but after all these years, I still loathe doing burpies – there’s a new challenge for you Manal -  to get me to love burpies!!!!"

Thank you Carolyn for your loyalty and wonderful positive attitude to training.  The last 10 years have been fabulous, bring on the next 10!

Leigh's Homemade Bircher Meusli

Homemade Bircher Muesli - Leigh Mac Ritchie
2 Cups Uncle Toby’s oats
¾ Cup So Good regular or other milk
½ cup dairy free yoghurt – I use Greek or plain Chonbai
¼ cup apple juice – I would  go for sugar free or organic but I made my own
1 red apple any type I like Royal Gala cut into matchsticks
1/3 cup of LSA mix
2 tbs pistachio kernels, halved
1 punnet of blueberries / raspberries  or both
For gluten free Bircher muesli, replace the oats with quinoa flakes.
Place the Oats, So Good, yoghurt and apple in a bowl and stir to combine. Place in the fridge overnight until most of the liquid is absorbed.
Stir in the apple, LSA and pistachios. Divide the mixture among 4 serving bowls or glasses.
Top with the blueberries and drizzle with a little honey.
Enjoy!! lasts for about  2 to 3 days.

Thank you Leigh, we love your recipes.  Keep them coming!!
