Another month of no alcohol, no sugar and extra workouts.  Join our exclusive Facebook group only for Challenge participants for all the details and support you need.  In February we saw amazing results and we are determined to build on them.

A new Challenge - June!!

It's almost time!!  In February this year we challenged ourselves to cut out sugar, alcohol and essentually processed foods.  We became aware of how much we were consuming and how frequently.  We also added extra at home workouts to our weekly schedules.  The results were, and still are, amazing.  However it's easy to fall back into bad habits so it's time to shake things up. ...So we are doing it all again!!  The new Challenge commences June 1.  Participants will have access to the private Facebook page and 3 online workouts per week as well as diet support and the already existing group forum!!

For those who completed February and want an extra challenge, we are setting June up as a "run the bay" challenge. I have designed a  specific "walk to run" program with the aim of running the bay by month end. Enquiries direct to Manal as each program is personalised at the individual's current level.
Both challenges will work in conjunction with current training with Manal Garcia Fitness.

"A few years ago I got an email from a colleague inviting a bunch of us to join some outdoor training sessions she had arranged with a fitness instructor. My friend and I signed up because we both acknowledged our lives were a little bit too sedentary. It wouldn’t hurt, right? It did. During the first session Manal made us run, box and squat and I remember my lungs burning throughout, probably because it wasn’t used to inhaling so much oxygen. The following morning the trek to the coffee cart was definitely painful – but in a good re-awakening the muscles sort of way!
I don’t know why I decided to join the Tuesday evening groups but I’ve never questioned or second-guessed this decision. Not only are the sessions different each week, the company is friendly, fun and encouraging. As Manal says, ‘it’s in the bank,’ and doing regular exercise and making wiser food decisions (hellooo, February Challenge!) is definitely an investment in life and ageing well. She’s also a great example of how a holistic outlook to health and fitness can give you energy, vitality and abs after having children. I’ve definitely noticed a difference in my strength, stamina and even self-talk when doing that final run up to the bus stop. I am truly grateful to Manal for how she’s slowly infiltrated herself into my life encouraging me to make healthier decisions and to keep challenging this body for the better."

Exercising on holidays for a cause

Early May Manal took a week off to travel to Bali with her close friend Katie. Besides cocktails and relaxation, there was another item on the agenda - continue Katie's fundraising mission for CanToo by training for her first Half Marathon on her return in May.  Successfully Katie and Manal ran 18km along the beautiful Balinese coastline, cross trained at the gym, did a yoga session and another 7km tempo run.  By sharing their training on social media, Katie managed to raise a further $1,000 and surpass her original fundraising target.
On May 21, Katie completed her first Half Marathon in a fabulous time of 2 hours and 1 minute and couldn't be happier!  She has raised just under $2000. Donations to Katie's fund raising page can still be made here for a short while longer! Congratulations Katie all that training has paid off.
