"A few years ago I got an email from a colleague inviting a bunch of us to join some outdoor training sessions she had arranged with a fitness instructor. My friend and I signed up because we both acknowledged our lives were a little bit too sedentary. It wouldn’t hurt, right? It did. During the first session Manal made us run, box and squat and I remember my lungs burning throughout, probably because it wasn’t used to inhaling so much oxygen. The following morning the trek to the coffee cart was definitely painful – but in a good re-awakening the muscles sort of way!
I don’t know why I decided to join the Tuesday evening groups but I’ve never questioned or second-guessed this decision. Not only are the sessions different each week, the company is friendly, fun and encouraging. As Manal says, ‘it’s in the bank,’ and doing regular exercise and making wiser food decisions (hellooo, February Challenge!) is definitely an investment in life and ageing well. She’s also a great example of how a holistic outlook to health and fitness can give you energy, vitality and abs after having children. I’ve definitely noticed a difference in my strength, stamina and even self-talk when doing that final run up to the bus stop. I am truly grateful to Manal for how she’s slowly infiltrated herself into my life encouraging me to make healthier decisions and to keep challenging this body for the better."
