Hello and welcome to this month’s UV-Guard Newsletter.

Can UV treatment of milk assist people with a deficiency in Vitamin D? Read on to find out along with an insight into our new model – the UVG S55.

UV Treatment of milk – increases nutritional value

There have been multiple publications this year focusing on the impacts of UV treatment, post pasteurization on milk for human consumption.

Studies carried out in Europe have shown that by treating cow’s milk with UV, the shelf life of the product is increased.

Another surprising benefit has been established. By treating milk with UV, an increase in Vitamin D occurs due to conversions of particular milk chemicals. No other significant nutritional differences have been recognized.

This industry news goes to show some of the multiple qualities UV has to offer in addition to controlling microorganisms.

UV-Guard adds new model to the S-Series

Sometimes, installation restraints make it difficult to install the correctly sized UV disinfection system.

The space available to install a UV treatment system, along with ensuring it can be successfully maintained, may limit your UV disinfection options.

Footprint restrictions may result in an undersized UV system being installed, one that will not achieve industry recommended UV dose rates.

UV-Guard have worked closely with some of our key customers, gaining vital feedback to develop a new model to add to our S-Series suite - the UVG S55.
The UVG S55 system is suited to large whole of house tank water uses or small commercial applications where there are footprint restraints.

It has the following benefits:
  • Large reactor volume – increases water contact time so recommended UV dose rates are achieved at higher flows.
  • New efficient Low Pressure High Output (LPHO) UV Lamp precisely matched to electronic ballast to provide optimum UV output.
  • Compact design – allows it to be used where there are installation space restraints.
  • Inlet and outlet connections customizable in size and position to suit your project requirements.
The UVG S55 will provide a UV dose of 30 mJ/cm2 at the end of lamp life up to a peak flow of 86 Lpm (liters per minute).
