Hello all,

So it's been a little while - which generally means there's been something going on. And indeed this month I have a few new things to share with you all.

First things first is the fact that I finally handed in my notice at my decade-long software marketing job. I'm working out my notice and by the end of June will be fully self-employed.

It's such a short statement that, but as I read those last two sentences back I find myself wondering at how something so big can be condensed into something so small. Because the truth is that coming to this conclusion has been the journey of my adult life (and yep, there is a blog post in this somewhere - to be developed some time soon).

As background, you might remember that back in October I wrote to you about being stood at a crossroads. I'd taken on some additional marketing work with travel company Soul & Surf and was on the verge of understanding that this might offer me a new route forward in life - one that would allow me to put down the last of my 'identity cloaks' and step fully into myself in all walks of life. I talked about fear, I talked about stickiness, I talked about unlearning. I somehow knew that this was the road, and though it's been far from easy I made a decision in January about the timeline and, wobbles aside, have made it.

[Those of you at REST on the 26th March, where we talked about standing at the edge? I did say I was teaching that class as much for myself as you - it was the Monday afterwards that I gave notice!]

Things are still settling (I've also got 10 more weeks' notice to work...) but this is the beginning of the future. A future where I'm more dedicated to teaching (in all its guises), I use my marketing expertise to support brands I'm really passionate about, and I'm free to explore new avenues of work too.

There's a tonne of risk of course but that's something I've gotten comfortable with in recent months and, beyond that, it is just REALLY fricking exciting. Watch this space...

Moving on then, and in the vein of investing my time and effort into the things I love and believe in, I have a few additional updates for you today... and some more links to share too.

I mentioned the documentary Kiss The Ground in my last email, and I am adamant about our ability to individually, and collectively make a difference in reducing our impact on this planet. As well as building a compost bin in the garden, reducing plastic usage and collecting litter from our coastlines, I've now signed myself up with Ecologi to continually plant trees on behalf of this business and community (and any other work I do too).

Our forest currently has 33 trees in it, and will be grown by a minimum of 13 more trees a month ongoing - though my intention is to keep boosting this further as we go.

As well as the reforestation effort, I want to be able to support the health of our oceans. I'm currently talking to Surfers Against Sewage about how to best set up an ongoing relationship with them to this end and I'll keep you updated on how that plays out.

I now have 2x WRITE sessions up and running, and again want to highlight the worth of this work. We're at capacity for now but come June there may be new opportunity in the shape of a third group. There is a waitlist - and if you'd like to be on it, drop me a line.

I still don't 100% know what the schedule will look like as we emerge from COVID - and with the employment change too this might take some time to fully develop. What I am sure of however is that there'll be some outdoor classes (WOO!) added in as restrictions are lifted (and conditions permit).

Probably the easiest and most foolproof way of keeping you up-to-date on these is to create a dedicated WhatsApp group. It'll be solely for notifications about these classes and you will still have to book in online but it'll increase the chance of you seeing that they're happening. If you'd like to be added, send me your number and let me know.

To finish up for today, here are a few things you might like to check out...

That's me for today, and hopefully it won't be so long before the next one! Do drop me a line to let me know how you are - your replies are one of my favourite parts of having this list after all!

Back in touch soon.
With very much love to you all,
Lisa xx
