Training & Sending Global Workers

Greetings to you! Welcome to another edition of our SALT Next Gen Update! The photo above is a picture I took during one of or Global Worker Training sessions which we have every Monday and Wednesday with our Gap Year team and their team leaders, Benja and Anna.

We have just completed 6 weeks of our 14-week training semester! Students are trained in a classroom setting twice a week in four Training Topics: Character and Calling, Evangelism and Discipleship, Cross-Cultural Understanding and Communication, and Leadership and Team Dynamics.

In addition to classroom training, these students are required to serve alongside our Resident Ministry Team throughout the week as we do ministry among primarily refugee people groups who have been resettled here in southeast Nashville. Pray for our Gap Year students as they will spend the spring semester (Feb-May) in Berlin where they will be working in an international church and assisting with outreach ministry to refugee populations there in Germany.

Here are some other updates in this month's newsletter:

As always, we want to say 'Thank You!' We couldn't do any of these things without your prayers and support. Thank you for holding up the mission of SALT Next Gen Ministries!

SUPPORT THE MISSION OF SALT NEXT GEN MINISTRIES

Grove Hill Students

Throughout the month of September, I had the opportunity to preach and teach about missions with the students of Grove Hill Church in College Grove, TN. Tracey and I had several good conversations with students after each Wednesday night session. Pray for this church and for the young people here to take the Great Commission seriously in their lives!

Pray for Our Friend, Sam

As most of you are aware, our organization hosts Cultural Encounter tours for churches, youth groups, Christian Schools, etc. in our ministry area in Nashville as a way to raise awareness about our ministry while providing training for those who are excited about partnering in the work of missions. We take groups to a local Hindu Temple and the priest of that temple, Sam, has become a good friend. Benja and I recently had the opportunity to have lunch with Sam and continue to invest in our relationship with him. Praying for him and other Hindus that they would find freedom and new life in Jesus!

Afghan Outreach in Nashville

Every Saturday, members of our Resident Ministry Team engage with the local Afghan refugee population in an area apartment complex where they have been resettled. We deliver food, teach ESL, and assist with a number of other needs that arise among a community that includes many families that have only recently arrived from Afghanistan. Our team members have already had multiple opportunities to pray with and for Afghans as well as even share the Gospel with a few. The work has grown to such a degree that we have added to our team a Christian Afghan couple from Bowling Green, KY to help us navigate the language and cultural barriers. Please pray that our team would find men and women of peace in and among this group of Afghans and that we would eventually see a Bible study and even a church get planted as a result of these efforts. Pray also for a local Nashville-area partner church to come alongside and shoulder this work with us!

Clarkston Update from the Sellers

"We are having Gospel conversation weekly with old and new friends. The Lord has brought the nations to our backyard. The Holy Spirit is opening eyes to the Gospel. Pray specifically for the Pashtun people group from Afghanistan, one of the biggest unreached people groups in the world and we are dear friends with some of them in Clarkston. Yet there is still a lot is a lot of work to be done here. Pray for us and all the workers and Clarkston to be faithful to God in making disciples and making sure they all have heard. Pray for the precious kids in our apartment complex and their families to come to know the hope and goodness of Christ! Pray for a reveal among the Afghan people here, for more souls to Christ, and for a church to be planted in their languages!"
