May 7-9 2021
Get ready to register!
It’s almost time to go online to sign on to this year’s digital celebration of reading and writing.
Registration opens on Feb. 26 at wordonthelakewritersfestival.com where you can get all the facts on this year’s festival.
While participants will not be able to meet in person, ZOOM will open the digital festival to people from across the globe. So tell family and friends wherever they live, that they can access an amazing event from the comfort of their own homes.
And don’t forget the dates: the digital festival runs Friday, May 7 to Sunday, May 9 on ZOOM and features a number of workshops hosted by a variety of accomplished authors, songwriters, poets, scholars and editors – check them out on the website.
Longtime Vancouver criminal lawyer and festival favourite Michael Slade and friends will perform one of his suspenseful shock theatre productions on Saturday of the festival.
On Friday night at the festival, get a glimpse of of what’s to come when presenters share some of their work at the always-popular Café Lit.
So go online, get the goods and sign up starting this Friday.
And, if you’re entering the annual Askew’s Word on the Lake Writing Contest, you have until midnight Feb. 28 to email your entries.
Because the KidsWrite contest will not happen this year, the age limit for the regular contest has been dropped to 16. The contest is open to submissions in short fiction, nonfiction and poetry.
Winners will receive cash prizes and their entries will be be included in the annual anthology.
