Welcome to the Wonderful Wednesday edition of The Coach's Corner!
Several years ago I listened to Rita Pierson's TED Talk and adopted her quote as a source of personal inspiration. Building relationships is critically important in our line of work. As I have entered your classrooms during the past month, I have seen the power of relationships here at Southern.
Thank you for making me feel welcome each time I entered your classrooms. I have seen great things that I will showcase here in my newsletters as well as on social media.
This week I would like to share three formative assessment tools with you: Plickers, Quizlet Live and Quizziz. I have visited classes and talked to teachers who have used Quizlet Live and Quizziz and students have been authentically engaged! I think the teachers had just as much fun as the students who were participating in the activity. Quizlet Live and Quizziz use the students' devices, while the teacher's device is required for Plickers.
There are SAHS Quizlet Live and Quizziz "Experts in the Field" who would provide testimonials and could offer assistance if needed. If you are interested in using either of those tech tools, please let me know and I will connect you with one of your co-workers.
I have used Plickers in professional development and I was impressed with the process and the immediate feedback that is given to teachers. Paper cards are generated with QR codes and as students hold up the plickers (paper clickers), the teacher is able to scan the room with a tablet or phone and "pick up" each student's response.
Please browse the links below for more information about each tool.
Continue building positive relationships with students. You are their champions!
