TAMPA, FL, May 19, 2022: U.S. Institute Against Human Trafficking (USIAHT) has named Sara LaChance the new Chief Strategy Officer. Sara holds a Master’s in Social Work from the University of Central Florida and has worked in child welfare, dealing specifically with adolescent addiction.
“I am immensely grateful to join the USIAHT team,” says LaChance. “Making an impact in the anti-trafficking space is a calling and a passion, and the opportunity to work alongside this organization is a dream.”
Before joining the Institute, LaChance started her own nonprofit in the Tampa Bay area to raise awareness about human trafficking. She has educated thousands on the warning signs and what to do when trafficking is taking place.
At USIAHT, LaChance will spearhead the TraffickingFree Zone (TFZ) initiative by forging strategic partnerships with organizations that can benefit from the resources and experience that the Institute provides.
The TraffickingFree Zone project is USIAHT’s flagship demand-reduction program: a community-based initiative to reduce the number of buyers whose continuous financial investments create an illicit market for traffickers to exploit young victims.
“USIAHT has laid an incredible foundation for change and disruption of demand,” says LaChance. “I am blessed to be able to contribute a small piece to this bigger picture. I very much look forward to what the future holds!”
“We are thrilled to have Sara taking the reins at the Institute,” says Kevin Malone, former Los Angeles Dodgers General Manager and Co-Founder and CEO of the USIAHT. “She is a natural leader and has a clear vision for how to expand the reach of the organization in a powerful way.”
The U.S. Institute Against Human Trafficking (USIAHT) is a nationally recognized not-for-profit organization committed to ending human trafficking in the United States. With offices strategically located in Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Tampa, Washington, D.C., and Austin, USIAHT is aggressively focused on reducing the demand for human trafficking through community-based initiatives, trainings, and AI technology.
