Message from Mother Tami

Dear All Saints' community,

Greetings...I hope you are all well and safe in your various homes.  I miss seeing you in church, but have been heartened by seeing your faces on Zoom and your comments on Facebook and hearing your voices through phone calls.  Please let me know how you are doing, if you have specific prayer requests for yourself or loved ones, and just generally stay in touch.  I am available by phone or text (914) 584-1418 or email rev.tami.burks@gmail.com.  Also, please email me a photo or short video of yourself saying hello, wishing wishes to the community, etc!

Holy Week begins next Sunday, April 5th.  Needless to say it will be a very different Holy Week than we have ever experienced.  More details will be forthcoming next week, but know that Carol and I are working to create liturgies that will be meaningful during these extraordinary circumstances. We met via Zoom yesterday with Elina and Matthew (St. Thomas' music director) to discuss music and they are both recording preludes, postludes, and hymns for the various services.

I'm including a prayer from the Book of Common Prayer that I've been praying each morning; it seems particularly appropriate during these times:

This is another day, O Lord. I know not what it will bring forth, but make me ready, Lord, for whatever it may be. If I am to stand up, help me to stand bravely. If I am to sit still, help me to sit quietly. If I am to lie low, help me to do it patiently. And if I am to do nothing, let me do it gallantly. Make these words more than words, and give me the Spirit of Jesus. Amen. (Book of Common Prayer, page 461)

Stay safe, be in touch. Hope to see you at worship and at Gather with the Saints! (more info about those in this email!)

Blessings, Tami

Palm Sunday
Palm Sunday, April 5, will be celebrated "virtually", but you can still take part in the reading of the Passion. We are calling teens, children, and adults who are willing to read parts of the Passion; cut-off date to respond is this Saturday, March 28. We will then assign parts and send them to the participants. Send your response to: rev.tami.burks@gmail.com

Photo/ Video Project
Send Tami (rev.tami.burks@gmail.com) a photo (or a short video up to a minute or so) of yourself in your "current surroundings". You can send us a photo/video of everyone in your family individually, or a family photo/video - your choice. We will be combining this with photos and videos from St. Thomas parishioners as a way to spread joy and love to everyone!

'Cardboard Parishioners' are filling the pews in one Episcopal Church
Episcopal News Service has lots of information on how other churches are finding ways to stay connected. Read a story about how one church is filling the church with 'cardboard parishioners' as the congregation worships from home.
