Thrift Shop/ HCC Update

A lot of activity happening in The Second Chance Thrift Shop space! Responding to the emergency needs of the community, Harrison Children’s Center asked the vestry for permission to use the thrift shop space to accommodate kindergarten students whose families need child care to which complements the hybrid learning schedule. Because of COVID concerns, the thrift shop would have not been able to safely open anyway, so it has presented itself as a way to serve the community in these unprecedented times. The challenge of course was clearing the thrift shop space in time for work to be done! A POD has been secured, thrift shop items have been culled and saved and on Thursday painting and rehabbing of the space started! HCC is taking care of deep cleaning the space; patching and painting the walls, fixing/replacing floor tiles and molding and otherwise spiffing it all up! When schools return to full time in person learning and HCC no longer needs the space, the thrift shop will have a freshly painted, newly tiled, open canvas to re imagine the layout! Making lemonade out of lemons! Stay tuned for more photos—-but the initial bright white walls look amazing!

Invitation: In-Person Worship is coming!
Sunday September 13, 2020

As referenced in Tami's note above, all All Saints' parishioners are invited to sign up for this service as well as the similar in person Eucharists that will be offered at All Saints'.  (information on those will be forthcoming in the next two weeks)

From St. Thomas:  Registration Open for Sunday 13th In-Person Worship

We will try an in person 8:00 AM service of the Holy Eucharist (no readings, no sermon, no music, just the liturgy for Holy Communion) on Sunday, September 13 in the church. Service should be about 20 minutes.

No more than 40 people in total will be allowed in the church.

You must register to reserve a space for you / family. If you change your mind, please cancel your reservation. Someone else might want the spot / spots.

Please click HERE for reservations.

Please click HERE to read the rules for in person worship.

The 10:00 am Zoom service will still be held.

What Does Church Mean To You During this Time? --- DEADLINE EXTENDED!*

This pandemic is certainly different than anything we’ve lived through to this point in history. The church - both the capital C church we reference in the Nicene Creed, and the local church at which we worship - has taken your life during this time.Write an essay / meditation /some thoughts on what the church has meant to and for you. Take the next few weeks and return them to Tami at rev.tami.burks@gmail.com.

*NEW DEADLINE: September 1st*

The writings will be collected and put into a book which will be preserved and committed to both the Vestry minutes and archives.

I look forward to reading your thoughts and reflections!

Blessings,  Tami
