Greetings from the Philippine Rice Research Institute! This is the October issue of our e-newsletter.
We encourage you to share away our monthly issue.
For this month, we introduce the “Featured Development Worker” section. Get to know more about Mr. Rizal G. Corales, our 2017 Civil Service Commission (CSC) Pagasa awardee. He developed one of the flagship programs of PhilRice, the Palayamanan Plus. Read his story here.
Our “Featured Scientist” is Alvin D. Palanog of PhilRice Negros. Among Alvin’s major research contributions is on the identification of suitable rice varieties for Western Visayas.
Sorjan farming and rice relay systems were established at PhilRice Agusan. Our results show that, even with limited space, they can increase income and yield. Read more about it on our “From the branch station” section.
Dr. Flordeliza H. Bordey, senior socio-economist, talks about how the Philippines can be competitive in rice. Her views are in our “From the website” section.
We also want to share the latest issue of the PhilRice Magazine where we write about mechanization as central to producing cheaper rice.
Lastly, we congratulate our staff members who were recognized during the recently concluded Civil Service Commission Region III Honor Awards Program Recognition Rites. See the list of winners and photos from this link.
We would like to hear from you. Please send us an email at prri.mail@philrice.gov.ph .
