May Updates from Bayview Community Co-op

Greetings Bayview-Hunters Point Community! We want to kick off our first email by wishing everyone not only a Happy May, but a Happy May Day - also known as International Worker’s Day around the world. Click the underlined link to learn more about this holiday!

As a Bayview-bred team, remembering the priceless labor that we residents put into building our city and our local community is first and foremost on our minds today.

We also lift up the labor that the parents, caretakers and guardians invest in their families and loved ones every day - work that keeps District 10 going strong. Shout out to y’all!

Introducing: Bayview Community Co-op’s Assembly Team

Our Assembly Team has recently undergone some big changes in order to meet expanding demand for our operations.

We are excited to share that on Earth Day, April 22nd, we moved operations from our office on Jerrold Ave to a nearby warehouse in the produce packing district!

Keep reading for a photo and quotes from one of our team members!

Tay

Bayview Community Co-op’s Sales & Marketing Team, Tandia O’Neal and Chris Wakefield, sat down with Tay Durden, Ruth Morales and Davido Crow over the last week of April to learn about their experiences with the team. These three members, along with Chris, are Food Program Associates at Bayview Community Coop.

Our first highlight is Tay Durden. Tay is a proud Bayview native, whose work spans Assembly, Delivery and the Healthy Retail Program - getting organic produce into local corner stores.

Tay shared: “I was inspired to work here to be a part of helping the community and giving back. When I’m out on deliveries, I meet people who let me know they really like the boxes and want us to keep coming back. One of the things I want people to know we’re doing is getting healthy produce into the corner stores in the Bayview that usually don’t have any. Living in the community, we have to travel far to get good produce. This is a game changer.”

Thank You and Stay Tuned!
