Hello Sam Hughes CREW!

First, I hope you are well and keeping healthy.  I find myself thinking about our CREW Community and wondering how you are doing in light of our current, unprecedented events.
Below is a very brief summary of our plans for this week.

School Closure: All schools across AZ are closed until Friday, April 10. Thank you for your patience as we work with the district to navigate the next few weeks. Please know your CREW is committed to serving you and will keep you informed as information becomes available.

Meals: Starting today, 3/23 Grab-n-Go meals (breakfast and lunch) will be provided for all students. Students must be present to receive the food. A map of locations will be posted on If you need assistance finding locations, please call (520)225-4700.

Helpful Stop times to know:

Sam Hughes Bus Bay from 10:20-10:30.
Blenman Bus Bay from 10:35-10:45
Miles Bus Bay 10:19-10:29

Instruction: Teachers are expected to be planning, prepping, and grading from home the week of 3/23 to 3/27.

There will be no required work assigned to students this week (March 23 to 27). In case school closures get extended, the district is currently working on a solution for remote learning and wants time to prepare so they can ensure equity as far as the situation and resources will allow.

Some teachers may have sent messages of recommended activities that can be done at home during this week. However, the activities are NOT required. Participation is left to your discretion as parents.

Thank you and take care.

All teacher chosen and district supplemented apps are located on your child's clever pages.  Don't worry, your child has been logging into clever at school regularly.

Apps to explore:
  • Office 365
  • RazKids (brought to you by the pta)
  • iXL
  • Teacher Chosen Apps (varies)

Log into clever here:

Did you know that only 1 in 5 of our school families participated in the Arizona Public School Tax Credit program last year?

Did you know that we rely on those tax credit contributions to fund our students enrichment, such as; OMA, P.E., Chess, Tutors, Field Trips and more!

Did you know that we need to raise $96,000 a year but for the past couple of years we have very fallen short of our goal?

Did you know that you can help us meet our goal?  Check out our guide video, Meet Maya.  She'll help you feel comfortable with the process.  We also have a detailed guide to claiming your contributions.  Check out our quick FAQ's as well for more information.

Are you ready to contribute? Follow these simple online steps.  You can also pay by check in the office.
Hi everyone!  I really miss making music and art with your children in person, but until we meet again, here are some great sites kids can access at home to explore and listen to music.
This reputable site from CARNEGIE HALL explores the instruments of the Orchestra:
There is a game they can play and lots of exploring!
(We explored this a little in class - you will have to set up an account, but it's free and easy... and you may have to help them navigate it just a little at the beginning.  If you have any issues, please email me)
This link is from NPR, giving links to live streaming concerts (ALL KINDS OF MUSIC) each day (it's wonderful!):

I am continuing to check out what sites can offer music/arts learning on line that I also like and are reputable.  As I find more, I will share more.

Please take care of yourselves right now and don't pressure yourselves too much to try to do too many things.
What is most important is keeping yourself well and safe and sane! 😉  All the best to you always,
Your OMA lady,
Ms. Sara Gascho
