Hello Sam Hughes CREW!
Online Registration Starts!
Online registration for the 2020-2021 school year begins Monday, January 27th! You can use your existing ParentVue account to pre-register for next year, or stop by the office to get an activation code if you still need to create one. If you’ve forgotten your password, our office can help you get a password reset.
Online registration is a quick, easy, and efficient way of making sure that we have the most current information about your student. Instead of filling out numerous forms, you can just review and confirm the existing information, or make any changes that you need. Making sure that we have up-to-date information about your child helps us make sure that we can reach you in case of an emergency.

Talent Show
The Sam Hughes Talent Show is this Friday night at 6:00pm in our cafeteria! I am looking forward to seeing the students perform…I know they have been working hard. See you there!

Parent Teacher Conferences
Please mark your calendars  on February 13th and 14th as Early Release Days- Dismissal will be at 11:45!
Teachers will be conducting Parent Teacher Conferences during the afternoons of both days.
Teachers will be contacting parents to schedule conferences. Please feel free to contact your student’s teacher if you have not been contacted and would like to schedule a conference.
Tax Credit Donations Needed:
Did you know that only 1 in 5 Sam Hughes families currently participates in the Public School Tax Credit program?
Here at Sam Hughes, Tax Credit Allocations are used to fund our enrichment programs- OMA, Chess, PE, Ecology. Field Trips, and Reading Tutors.
These programs would not be possible without Tax Credit Allocations.
Participating in the Public School Tax Credit program is easy and free, and virtually all residents who file taxes in the state of Arizona are eligible! 
By claiming the Public School Tax Credit, you choose to direct a portion of the Arizona taxes you already owe or have paid straight to Sam Hughes to support essential school programs.

2) 3rd, 4th and 5th grade:
Please Encourage your child to practice - if you aim to practice every day then it becomes part of your routine - even just 10 minutes a day.  You are more likely to get 3-5 days of practice in if you aim for everyday.  Life comes up, of course!  But getting it in your routine really helps!  Those who are practicing are excelling!
    a) PLEASE remember to bring your instruments on your assigned day!
     b)  Does your child need extra GASCHO HELP ??? on his/her instrument or an extra challenge? Come in between 8-8:30 any Wed, Thurs and Fri morning in the cafeteria or Tallmadge Hall  :)  It's FREE!!  
     c) Please remember to PLAY WITH and CARE for your instrument!!  Having these wonderful instruments at home and not practicing them is like having a fun friend around that you never bring out to play. 🙁 LOGGING practice and getting parent signatures gets KUDOS for your kiddo!! 🙂

TALENT SHOWCASE: Is this Friday!

Come support your fellow Huskies at the 15th Annual Talent Showcase at Hughes on Friday Jan 31 at 6pm.  It's always a lot of fun!

Participants please REMEMBER:  Rehearsals for Talent Show are Tues Jan 28 and Thurs Jan 30 right after school.
It's the time of year to start thinking about Science Fair!

Registration is due February 4th. Science projects are due in Talmadge Hall on Monday February 10th, and the judging will happen on Tuesday February 11th. 

Registration forms
 are due to the front office on Tuesday February 4th.

Check out the tips on how to get started in both the classroom packet and the "science fair inspiration" document! They have good advice about the hardest part (picking a topic) and coaching us parents through some of the tough moments (frustration on the part of kids and parents).  There are also great checklists about the preparation of the science fair project board.

Volunteer Needed for Community School

Community School is seeking a volunteer to help Ms. Lauren distribute snacks to students from 2:40pm to 3:05pm. Volunteers receive a discount on Community School tuition and priority placement into classes - no worrying about lottery results! Can you help a few days a week? You can bring your child with you. We usually have many snacks left over on the sharing table, so you can also pick up a yogurt, fruit cup or cheese stick while volunteering! If interested, please email
