This Sunday is our Early Birds Service in the Hall, Gill is doing the story, so please come and support her.
We raised £110 at the Snowdrop Walk. Well done! It was lovely to see so many of you enjoying the glorious sunshine and all your children running round the woods and playing on the swings.
It is Shrove Tuesday on Tuesday with our Pancake Party, from 3.45-5pm in the Church, followed by pancake races.
Shrove Tuesday is the day before Ash Wednesday, the start of Lent, when we remember that Jesus went into the wilderness, where he was tempted by the devil, while he prayed about what sort of Messiah he would be. On Ash Wednesday, last year’s palm crosses are burnt and the ash is used to make the sign of the cross on our foreheads, to remind us Lent is a season of fasting and abstinence. Many of us give up something – chocolate, cake, alcohol. Traditionally, people made pancakes on Shrove Tuesday, to use up their butter and eggs, before they fasted. There is a service at 9:00 am on Ash Wednesday for the imposition of the ashes. If you haven’t done this before, do consider coming.
