Events in June 2019

Music on the Steps

June 2 @ 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm

Chatham Manor was once a place of wealth, cultural interests, and artistic endeavors. Residents often hosted visitors for weeks at a time and music was one of the main entertainments provided for guests. On Sunday, June 2nd, music will ring out once again from the grounds of Chatham Manor when the Quantico Marine Corps Band performs at historic Chatham. This event is free and open to all and will take place on the riverside lawn of Chatham, overlooking the Rappahannock and the City of Fredericksburg.

For seating, all audience members should bring their own chairs or blankets.

If you have not visited Chatham before, come early on June 2nd to learn about this wonderful, historic jewel in Stafford County. The public is always invited to tour the Chatham Manor house or stroll the lovely gardens at Chatham free of charge. The house and grounds are open daily from 9:00 am to 4:30 pm.

Annual Membership Meeting

June 6 @ 4:30 pm - 6:00 pm

Our Annual Meeting will be held at Chatham Manor on Thursday June 6, 2019. Prior to the meeting from 4:30 to 5:30, members will enjoy special access to the house, including areas that are normally not open to the public. There will also be punch and cookies available in front of the house. At 5:30 the business portion of the Annual Meeting will commence.  At the meeting, changes proposed to the FoC Bylaws will be voted on.  To see the changes, follow this link: Proposed Bylaw Amendments 2019 final

All Friends of Chatham members are urged to attend the Annual Meeting. We need 20% of our membership in attendance for a quorum. During the meeting, reports will be given by the Directors on the past year’s activities and on plans for the future. We will also be voting on two changes to the bylaws. These proposed changes are outlined on the attached document.

If you have not already done so, please plan to renew your membership for the 2019-2020 membership year (July 1, 2019-June 30, 2020) at the Annual Meeting. The Treasurer and Membership Director will be on hand to assist you with that process. If you are not currently a member, please come to the meeting and join- your membership will be effective immediately and will run through June 30, 2020.

Hope to see you there!

Pirates of Penzance at Riverside

June 20 @ 5:00 pm - 10:00 pm

Please join the Friends of Chatham for a fun evening at the Riverside Center for the Performing Arts where we will see The Pirates of Penzance (or The Rascals of the Rappahannock). The Gilbert and Sullivan operetta has been given a delightful twist by the Riverside … instead of being set on the rocky coast of Cornwall, this version is placed in late eighteenth century Virginia, when King George III ruled the colony.

This is another Fun-Raiser for Friends of Chatham and we look forward to laughing with you at this delightful production!

Tickets are $80.00 per person.
When: Thursday, June 20th
