Happy New Year!
The year is off to a strong start. More than 120 supporters, including 15 local businesses, donated during our annual appeal. Individual contributions help ensure the Locker Project can continue the work of #feedingthefuture. Thank you all for your generosity!
2019 Recap
With the help of our incredible volunteers and dedicated school staff, we rescued and distributed a record amount of healthy food last year! December was our busiest month, as staff and volunteers packed and delivered 850 holiday bags filled with healthy meal items to schools across Greater Portland.
Twice a month, the Locker Project holds a very successful produce distribution at Westbrook High School. One of the most enthusiastic supporters of our mission is head custodian Wendy Carleton. Eternally cheerful, Wendy pitches right in when our staff arrive at the loading dock with 20-plus heavy boxes of produce. She says the Locker Project fresh food program is a life-saver for her "grandkids," as she calls the students. Thank you, Wendy, for all you do!

We were excited to be the featured nonprofit at the Portland Regional Chamber of Commerce Kegs & Issues in December, where Erin French, from The Lost Kitchen, shared her inspiring story. A raffle of Erin's cookbook, The Lost Kitchen: Recipes and a Good Life Found in Freedom, Maine, raised $700 for our programs.

Join Portland's Food Fuels Learning for the January update: FFL In Action: Quarterly Community Report on Wednesday, January 29th, from 5:30-7:00 pm in the East End Community School cafeteria. This public event will celebrate the recent PPS Food Fund Awardees and include updates from the food security action groups. Children are welcome to attend, and refreshments will be provided.
