NEWSERA NEW ORLEANS RESEARCHES SCHOOL SPENDING

ERA New Orleans just released a new policy brief, “Does School Reform = Spending Reform? The Effect of the New Orleans School Reforms on the Use and Level of School Expenditures,” written by Christian Buerger and Douglas N. Harris. The study looks at how switching from traditional public schools to charter schools in New Orleans affected operating expenditures. Somewhat surprisingly, results show that charter schools spend more on administration than traditional school districts. For more detailed results and discussion thereof, make sure to read this policy brief!
