NEWS: EDUCATION NORTHWEST EXAMINES COLLEGE GRANT PROGRAM

In the report "Fulfilling the Promise? Early Findings on Oregon’s New College Grant Program," Education Northwest explores the Oregon Promise program, a statewide grant program designed to encourage graduating Oregon high school students and recent GED recipients to attend community college in Oregon. The report examines the implementation of the program and the progress in its first year, finding early successes as well as some areas for improvement. "New Database Helps Connect Education Researchers, Schools," a blogpost by Sarah D. Sparks that introduces the National Education Researcher Database (NERD). Though not officially launched yet, we recommend keeping an eye out for this promising new networking database created by the Curry School of Education at the University of Virginia and its Jefferson Education Accelerator that will help connect education researchers and school district officials. 

"Are We Doing Enough to Build the Evidence and Learning Systems That Will Improve State Practices?," a blogpost by Nate Schwartz of the Tennessee Department of Education on how best to make use of research evidence to improve educational practice and the role of state departments.

"Trump Education Dept. Releases New ESSA Guidelines," a blogpost by Alyson Klein that talks about the new ESSA guidelines and some of the biggest changes.
