NEWS: NNERPP LAUNCHES NEW RPP KNOWLEDGE CLEARINGHOUSE

We are excited to announce the NNERPP RPP Knowledge Clearinghouse, a centralized repository that contains relevant work related to RPP functions. We hope this will be a useful tool for our member RPPs and any RPP, starting out or already established! The Clearinghouse will grow and expand as more resources are added by us or by you; it already contains a number of resources and tools for relevant to many. Phase 1, Building the Foundation, is live NOW, with Phases 2 and 3 to follow soon! Read more in this week's blogpost, and make sure to check out the brand new RPP Knowledge Clearinghouse here!

NEWS: TENNESSEE EDUCATION RESEARCH ALLIANCE STUDIES TURNAROUND MODELS

Building on previous research on turnaround approaches, a new policy brief from the Tennessee Education Research Alliance reviews how Tennessee schools in the Achievement School District and Innovation Zones have been able to recruit and retain effective teachers. Read "Recruitment and Retention of Teachers in Tennessee’s Achievement School District and iZone Schools" by Gary T. Henry, Ron Zimmer, Adam Kho, and Lam Pham for findings on Tennessee's efforts to improve low-performing schools.

NEWS: UCHICAGO CONSORTIUM INVESTIGATES TEACHER AND ADMINISTRATOR EXPERIENCES PREPARING FOR CCSS

In "Getting Ready for the Common Core State Standards: Experiences of CPS Teachers and Administrators Preparing for the New Standards," a new report from the UChicago Consortium on School Research, teacher and administrator perceptions of Common Core State Standards (CCSS) impact and perceptions of preparedness to implement  the new standards are explored. NEWS: ERA NEW ORLEANS RESEARCHES TEACHER TURNOVER

A new study from the Education Research Alliance for New Orleans by Katharine O. Strunk, Nathan Barrett, and Jane Arnold Lincove entitled "When Tenure Ends: Teacher Turnover in Response to Policy Changes in Louisiana" looks at the effects a 2012 Louisiana bill had on teacher turnover in traditional public schools. The bill made major changes to teacher tenure, empowering districts to dismiss ineffective teachers. For study findings and implications, read the policy brief here!

NEWS: THE RESEARCH ALLIANCE FOR NEW YORK CITY SCHOOLS PONDERS SCHOOL SAFETY

In the latest post in their Spotlight on NYC Schools series, The Research Alliance for New York City Schools  explores the relationship between schools' approaches to discipline and students' perceptions of safety. Specifically, now that suspensions are down in NYC schools as a result of a districtwide effort to reduce the use of suspensions, do students feel safer? Find out in this blogpost: "Suspensions are down. What does this mean for school safety?"

"Getting to High School in Baltimore: Student Commuting and Public Transportation," a Baltimore Education Research Consortium study by Marc L. Stein, Jeffrey Grigg, Curt Cronister, Celeste Chavis, and Faith Connolly.  

"Programs Versus Practices: What’s the 'What' in What Works?," a blogpost by Ruth Neild, Director of the Philadelphia Education Research Consortium, that discusses how to approach the Every Student Succeeds Act's (ESSA) research evidence requirements. 

"Make it Local with In-House Researchers," a piece by Douglas N. Harris, Director of the Education Research Alliance for New Orleans, that proposes building a new cadre of in-house researchers that can fulfill ESSA principles.
