SafeHope Home
March 31, 2019

Now that we are “hopefully” heading into some warmer temperatures, SafeHope Home is preparing a number of events and new adventures.    The participants are in the planning stages of growing their own vegetables and herbs this year in several gardens at the Residential Home.    They are still actively involved in Horseback riding weekly and are becoming quite the riders.   Over the past two months the participants have excelled at completing numerous components of the curriculum and validating such growth in their recovery.   It has been heartwarming for staff to see these young women each day walk into the program with smiles on their faces, and the friendships amongst themselves formed.  In the evenings the participants have found a new interest in completing large and quite complicated puzzles together.   It has been a delight to watch them bonding at the kitchen table for hours at a time working and laughing together when they complete a puzzle.

#NotInMyTown
Keep an eye out for advertisement, flyers, and media as the youth groups from various churches across Durham Region join to create fundraising teams to reach their sphere of influence and peers, to provide advocacy and awareness about the prevalence of Human Trafficking in Durham Region.  The campaign is currently at $13,470 raised, and will be running until March 31st, 2019!!   Check out the campaign link here:   https://notinmytown.ca/

                    Celebrations:
One of our young women recently decided to be baptized! We were all there to cheer her on, and wanted to share the ending of her testimony that she shared with many,
“I have come to understand that the missing piece of the puzzle was God and now I know that He was always there, even in my darkest days.  At my lowest point I was able to let go and let God!”

    Challenges and Concerns:
There are continual adjustments at the home as new participants move in creating changes in the dynamics.

Summary of Freedom Gala:

Fundraising for Freedom Second Annual Gala
On February 23rd 2019, Fundraising for Freedom hosted their second annual Gala in support of SafeHope Home at the Jubilee Pavilion in Oshawa. The night consisted of a full service dinner, live music and silent auction.
We heard from keynote speakers who provided our guests with knowledge and insight into the reality of human trafficking and how SafeHope Home supports survivors through long-term Housing, Programs and Outreach . There was an amazing turnout, all funds raised are going directly to SafeHope Home.
A HUGE thank you to everyone who supported the event including the sponsors/donors and the guests. It was amazing to see our community come together to support this cause.
More pictures from the event can be found on Fundraising for Freedom’s Facebook page andwww.fundraisingforfreedom.ca.

Minding His Business: April 30th, 2019

Are you or someone you know a female business owner?
This event is for you!
Ajax Convention Centre:  The business world is filled with extensive new-age advice on growth strategies and principles that directly contradict scripture. Minding HIS Business is a summit for Christian women, who desire Christian advice on how to build a business that honours God, ministers to others in the secular business world and meet like-minded business owners with the same intentions. The goal will be to teach women how to merge sacred and secular, in order to run a Christ-focused business that shares the Gospel.  Raffle proceeds and donations will be directed to SafeHope Home from this incredible event.  Tickets to attend the event can be purchased at:https://www.eventbrite.ca/e/minding-his-business-tickets-56716582826
