•  DEBUNKING CAPITALISM: Video Recos worth watching
•  A BIG MONTH FOR EDA: Cooperative Charter, 5-year plan and elections kick off in Philadelphia, June 14-17
Dear <<First Name>>,

June marks a milestone for EDA as we focus on our Convention for a New Social Contract in Philadelphia. We're excited to come together for this pivotal event that will launch EDA into a new and exciting phase. There's still time to participate. And whether you can make it to Philly or not, be sure to take the time to learn more about EDA's flexible membership program - Supporting and Active. It's a necessary step to stay involved with EDA.

Building a strategy for a cooperative economy is a major focus of our organization. To understand why an economic overhaul is necessary, we must first understand why our current system is unsustainable. So we've shared some engaging, entertaining and educational videos about Capitalism in this issue of EDA News. Check them out below.

Looking forward to seeing you soon!

What's Wrong With Capitalism?
Videos Worth Watching

If you're even mildly interested in EDA or the future of our world, it is worth asking the question, “What is wrong with capitalism?” Two good ways to answer that question might be: 1) looking critically at what is happening all around us and asking to what degree our financial system is responsible, and 2) listening to the thoughts of others who have already done number 1.

We encourage you to do both so we've suggested a few videos we consider worth viewing (especially if you are coming to the Convention where we will ask this question all over again). Although each of these videos are quite different, they're packed with terrific insights.
What's Wrong With Capitalism (Part 1) | ContraPoints  Length: 19:07
For an edgy response laced with profanity and a window into how some millennials are communicating.
Four Horsemen - Feature Documentary - Official Version  Length: 1:38:23
“Four Horsemen” is a much-praised award winning independent feature documentary that contains one particularly chilling section about the oft-repeated sequence of events at the end of empires. Featuring Col. Lawrence Wilkerson.
David Schweickart: What's Wrong with Capitalism  Length: 1:12:00
And for a longer, clear, thoughtful critique of the system, here's a philosophy professor speaking fairly informally addressing many of the usual defenses of capitalism.

EDA Is Ready to Launch
What Part Will You Play?

The Cooperative Charter, EDA’s new organizational plan, is ready for your approval.

This ambitious document was conceived and announced a year ago at EDA’s first conference in Asheville, NC.

Following ten months of discussions and input by more than sixty people, the new Charter will be completed in Philadelphia, June 14-17. When delegates to EDA’s Convention for a New Social Contract review and vote on the Charter, Economic Democracy Advocates will be launched as a formal organization.

Elections for EDA officers will also be announced and held during the summer. To run for office or to vote, you must be an Active Member of EDA. Click here to learn about the two types of membership available, and to become an Active Member.

EDA will also be presenting its goals for the next five years. See the next issue of this newsletter for details.

We’re on the move with exciting plans! Join us!
