FIRST AID @ HAWKER COLLEGE TERM 4 2020 

This course is scheduled for Wednesday 14th October and will take place in the Study Support Room up in the Humanities Area. 
 
This course will cover the following competencies, which are recognised nationally. This qualification is valid for 3 years from the date of issue.  Students will need to complete a pre-course booklet.  You will be contacted to come and pick up a first aid manual and the pre-course booklet from the upstairs Student Services Area once you have paid at the front office. 
 
HLTAID001 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation
HLTAID002 Provide basic emergency life support
HLTAID003 Provide first aid
 
  • This course will start at 9:00am and finish at 3:00pm.  
  • Students MUST COMPLETE the pre-course work prior to the day.     
  • The cost of this course for students is $70 and will need to be paid to the front office by Thursday 24th September.
  • Please note this course will be capped at 16 participants (we also need 9 participants for the course to go ahead)
 
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
  • All participants must bring ID (Passport, Drivers License, Proof of Age Card or Birth Certificate).
  •  Prior to training course participants should familiarise themselves with the Academy Course Participant Handbook which includes the Participant Code of Conduct and information about the Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL). The handbook is available at HERE
 
IMPORTANT PRE-COURSE REQUIREMENT
  • Unique Student Identifier (USI).   
         All participants must bring their USI to the course as they will need to include             this on their Training Enrolment Form.
         If students do not yet have a USI, they can apply for one directly HERE from a          computer or mobile device. Forgotten USI’s can also be retrieved from this       
        webpage.

There is an option to pay online if this is more convenient.  Please ensure that you put your name and first aid in the description of the payment.

RSA COURSE 

Our first RSA Training course @ Hawker College for 2020 is scheduled for Thursday 12th November (Week 15)
 
Please note – we must have a minimum of 10 participants for the course to go ahead.  
 
VENUE:  Hawker College Exercise Science Classroom
TIME:  1:00pm-4:30pm

 
You are to arrive 10 minutes early to the classroom.  This will ensure you are settled and ready for a 1pm start. 
 
What to bring on the day

Prior to the day
Pay $70 to Hawker College Front Office by Monday 2nd November. 
Complete the enrolment paperwork (including USI number) by Monday 2nd November.  This can be handed into the front office, put under the door of the careers office or emailed to chontel.green@ed.act.edu.au

SPRING INTAKE 2021 APPRENTICESHIPS IN THE ACT

This year we are looking to find students interested in pursuing an apprenticeship in any of the following vocations:

  • Air-Conditioning
  • Electrical
  • Telecommunications

Interviews will be conducted at the 1300 Apprentice office in CIT Bruce during the October school holidays. 

Students will need to complete forms prior to their interview and will be asked to complete online tests after the interview has taken place.

You could start on our work experience page. Also try contacting businesses that you’re interested in directly, your initiative and enthusiasm may get you through the door but be aware that many businesses are under pressure right now and may not be able to support work experience students.

NECA ELECTRICAL INDUSTRY HOLIDAY PROGRAM 

It has been a very quiet year to date, for obvious reasons, but we have recently decided to cross our fingers and commence planning for the delivery of one, potentially two, NECA Electrical Industry Holiday Programs in January next year.
 
I have attached the Program Flyer for your information HERE

TRAINING COURSES
APPRENTICESHIP INFO
 
We will aim to fill Program 1 first but, if there is sufficient demand, we will open Program 2 for enrolments. 
 
Program 1:   18-22 January, 2021
Program 2:   11-15 January, 2021


Details of the Programs are as follow:
  • Technical Training derived from Units of Competency in the Certificate III Electrotechnology – Electrician (Electrical trade) qualification;
  • First Aid in an ESI Environment & CPR Certificate Courses;
  • Electrical concepts;
  • Hand and power tool familiarisation and safe use;
  • Introduction to Industry work practices;
  • Professional and Personal Development;
  • Information on how to secure an Apprenticeship in the Electrical Industry;
  • Mentoring (from Industry Specialist Mentors and Industry members);
  • Linkages to existing Apprentices, Trades and Employers.
Note:   All Students will also be supplied with a full NECA Uniform and PPE.

The Programs are fully supported by our Group Training Organisation, NECA Electrical Apprenticeships, meaning these Holiday Programs are
FREE for all students.

Pending ACT Health Authority advice regarding gatherings allows, we will be holding an Information evening in early December to allow Program participants to meet each other and be fitted for their uniforms.  The night also provides parents/carers with an opportunity to hear more about the Program and ask any questions they may have.

  • Part 1 - An introductory overview on financial aid with a panel of U.S. financial aid experts.
         The focus will be on types of financial aid, terminology, resources for research,
         how to find scholarships and factors international students will have to
         consider. This session will also take a look at how US institutions determine
         need for international students.
