BE YOUR OWN WINNER

Tune in to our Be Your Own Winner online event together with your students!
As we are nearing the end of the year, this can be an odd time for many teachers and students. Some of your students might be busy preparing for their HSC exams and others are switching off for the holidays. It is one of those times where everyone is in wind down mode and as a teacher, you might find it diffcult to keep your students engaged.
Luckily, we have something that will set your students up for the year ahead! Tune in to our FREE Be Your Own Winner online event - presented by Olympic athlete Michelle Jenneke and NRL player Alan Tongue, together with our Career Coaches Amy and Sarah they will step job-seekers through the process of finding out what they were born to do, to getting that dream job.

Job seekers will learn:
1. How to stand out from the crowd (what employers really want).
2. Find out how to make the right moves (how and where to search for the right jobs).
3. Come up with a game plan (how to write a resume, interview prep etc.).
4. Identify hurdles and obstacles (challenges on the job hunt and the importance of resilience).

CICA NEWS

FUTURE READY CANBERRA
Are young Australians ready for a world yet to be imagined?
The future workplace will bring new experiences and expectations.
Our young people today will work in jobs that are yet to be created, use technology that has not yet been invented and face social, economic and environmental challenges that are yet to be anticipated.
To be successful in the future world of work, young people will need skills and capabilities to navigate this new world.
They will require a portfolio of skills and capabilities to make well informed career decisions throughout life.
High quality career education builds resilient individuals who can adapt to the changing nature of work, managing multiple careers throughout their lifetime, adapting to their circumstances and needs.

As part of this interactive event we will discuss:
  • What is real career education and why more than ever today does it need to be a priority in schools.
  • The need to rethink the traditional focus in Year 10 and start the conversations and exploration much younger.
  • Acknowledge the important role that parents play and discuss how we involve them and empower them.
  • Why industry engagement through partnerships with schools is an important element of a quality career education program.
You will also hear from some of the organisations that have been involved in projects to support the National Career Education Strategy - Future Ready.
These include the CSIRO, FYA, ACARA and ARACY.
Bring your smart phone and your ideas and get ready to collaborate and network at this important event.
A light breakfast will be served.
