Winter Update

Body Transformation Event

March 4th sees the launch of our 6 week body transformation event. Sign up to receive 6 weeks of support from the gym team, geared towards helping you achieve your specific goals!

New Spin Bikes

Our new Life Fitness IC6 Indoor Cycle bikes are here! They are a one-of-a-kind premium indoor cycle that combines award-winning design, a two-stage drivetrain and an engaging digital experience. An extremely accurate WattRate Power Meter, Coach by Colour intensity guide, and precise 100-level magnetic resistance make the IC6 a state-of-the-art indoor cycle.

Tuesday with Cheryl - 19.15-20.00
Thursday with Keiron - 19.15-20.00

There are also two new bikes in the upstairs stretch area if you would like to try them rather than in a group.

Car park, Litter & Smoking

We recently gravelled the overflow car park and have also added more lights in both car parks. Thank you for your positive feedback.
Unfortunately we are constantly having to pick up rubbish/cigarettes ends from all over the car park and entrance to the Club with some Members using our commercial bins to put their rubbish in. The Club and grounds are no smoking and Members should use the bins provided in order to keep the car parks as clean and tidy as possible. Members who continue to abuse the above may have their Membership terminated.

Gym Inductions & Personal Training

To help you keep on track or if you feel like a change to your routine why not book in for an induction/re-program with one of our qualified instructors? Just speak to Reception.

Alternatively, we have a number of Personal Trainers (many of who have been here for over 10 years) who can help you to achieve your goals. Their profiles are on the notice board and also on our website.

Bodymechanics - Physio & Sports Massage

Why not treat yourself or someone you love to a sports massage? Joe Sundborg is our resident masseur and appointments are available daytime, evenings and weekends. Don’t forget all River Club members receive discounts on normal rates.

Bootcamp is an outdoor class (come rain or shine!) run by three of our Personal Trainers, with sessions during the week and weekends. More information can be found either on our website or £129 members, £169 non-members.

As you are hopefully aware, a new towel policy will be coming into effect on 1st March giving you the option to bring your own towel or subscribing to a towel course.
Sweat towels will still be available and we will be introducing new larger towels in March/April. Please see reception for further details.

Member Referrals

Until February 28th we are offering a choice of a free month or a £50 John Lewis voucher for every Member you refer. If you refer six people you will receive a whole year free, so if you know anyone who would like to join please let reception know or email


We have updated our website to make it easier for Members to find information, from classes, opening hours and the other services we offer. So if you have not had a chance to look please feel free to do so.

New Branded Products

We have introduced a new range of branded T-Shirts, rucksacks, gym sacks and take away cups, all available at Reception now.


  • A thank you to the 150 Members who turned up to dance (and drink) at our Christmas party in December.
  • A charity Macmillan coffee morning in aid of cancer will be held on 8th March.
  • In April Elliot will be organising a 5K run in aid of the Emily Ashe trust with a giant Easter egg raffle so look out for upcoming details.

Locker Rental

We have a number of  small lockers in the Men’s which are available to rent which are suitable to leave shoes and clothing in.
If you are interested please email or speak to Reception.

Member Feedback

We do not get everything right all the time and cannot improve our service without your input so please fill in a Comment Card at Reception or email

Club Etiquette

We pride ourselves in being different to most other clubs. We like to think we’re a home away from home with a relaxed atmosphere. We ask that in order to preserve this, the following is observed:
  • Members must bring in their Membership card and register at Reception.
  • Members should cancel any group exercise classes with at least 24 hours notice
  • Used towels are to be placed in the bins provided and locker doors closed after use
  • Lockers are for day use only. 
  • Last entry to the Club is 60 minutes before closing. Please check our website for times.
  • No tea or coffee permitted in the gym areas.
