Here's a look at what's happening at EAST YARD in September!
EAST YARD Community Arts Centre is the premier creative community arts space in East Trinidad. Created in 2017 by local arts promotion and education non-profit organization, Caribbean Fashion and Arts Feature Festival, EAST YARD is a cultural hub designed to connect and engage the local community on a regular and ongoing basis by championing creativity in all its forms.
This weekend EAST YARD and Nicki Consulting hosted EAST TALKS: Open Mic Night. The theme was Mental Health and an amazing panel of professionals and creatives at the forefront openly and honestly discussed the importance of acknowledging and addressing mental health issues locally.

About the panel:
Dr. Alicia Martin is a sociologist whose academic and project development energies revolve around socially displaced populations. She is a Director with the Anti-Bullying Association of Trinidad and Tobago as well as the Chairman of the Board of the Caribbean Fashion and Arts Feature Festival. She has three years of experience as a Guidance and Counselling Officer and is currently the Registrar at the MIC Institute to technology.
Alicia Hospedales is a qualified social worker and former MP for the Constituency of Arouca/Maloney, which she served for 7 1/2 years. She is currently employed as the Government Liaison for Digicel and the Strategic Partnership Officer at the Digicel Foundation.
Crissy-gail Edwards is a Trinbagonian creative WHO has been writing poetry since the age of seven, has been performing spoken word for over 12 years, is a mother who home schools her own children and teaches mothers to do the same with a reading clinic.
Sheldon is an instrumentalist, a lyrical 'expresser' and also a vocal artist and has been a member of several local music bands over the years. Sheldon joined arts activist group Artists Coalition of Trinidad and Tobago (ACTT), founded by Rubadiri Victor, being the first Vice President of that organization.
