Happy November!
October zoomed by and it was action packed. 3rd World Armerica, the debut solo exhibition of Gary Martin, aka Astro Clouds opened and has been receiving glowing reviews. Curated by Makeena James of East Gourmet, the exhibition has been extended until November 19th but before that, Astro Clouds presents his Artist Talk at East Studio on November 12th at 3pm. It's only been two months but it feels like The Burg has been here for a long time. The vintage store has settled in well to its Arima location and has a host of goodies planned for November.
This month we also welcome a new team member in the form of the wonderful Dominique Roy. Dominique has joined as a Creative Associate and will function as my right and left hands, assisting me in my roles as Executive Director of CFAFF/For Common Good and founder of EAST YARD.
November also holds a special significance as it's my birth month. Though the date has passed and I've already celebrated, I'm still accepting presents. Hook a brother up! :)

From Me to You
Art has always fascinated me. From creating it, to curating it, to collecting it. I've always known that it would be something I would invest in. If you want to see me in my glee, buy me art! Not just any art though - but local art.
Upon my return to Trinidad in 2005 from spending four and a half years in London, studying and working, I began to collect pieces that resonated with me in some way. My collection though relatively small is a hodgepodge of pieces by Trinbagonian visual artists who represent various aesthetics and viewpoints.
Most of the work has been purchased by me, some pieces gifted to me and the others have somehow been left in my hands for safe keeping. The pieces tell their own stories but they have now become a big part of mine and I can't wait to share them with you.
Art is not the only highlight, as the exhibition will also serve as the stage for the debut of my most recent Green Violet men's apparel, capsule collection.

On November 27th, 2021 The Burg is hosting its well known Thifter's Market for the first time at EAST YARD. Registration is now on for vendors who wish to share their special offerings with the thrifting public, to thrift to their heart's content. Tables for vendors cost $150.
