The Friends of the Library serve as vibrant, active volunteer advocates and supporters of local libraries, education, and literacy. Twice a year, they hold book sales with all profits donated to the library and educational programs. This year, the Spring Book Sale will take place from March 9-19, 2018.

Severe Weather Preparedness Week and Upcoming Statewide Tornado Drill 

March 4-10 is Severe Weather Preparedness Week in North Carolina. Alamance County Emergency Management officials urge residents to participate in the annual statewide tornado drill March 7 to practice their emergency plan in case severe weather strikes our state.

The Alamance County Sheriff’s Office Citizen Academy is an extension of the agency’s Community Services Division. The goal of the Academy is to provide insight about the job functions and duties of the Sheriff’s Office. Twenty Alamance County residents will be screened and selected to attend each Academy session. Some of the topics covered during the session include: Special Response Team Demo, Firearms Simulator, Crime Scene Investigation, and Response to Critical Incidents. Applications are now available for the Spring Session!

Thank you for supporting the Alamance County 4-H Spring Plant Sale. Your purchase helps support 4-H-ers’ activities in several ways. 4-H-ers can earn Clover Cash by selling plants, and this money can help pay for camp, Summer Sizzle, teen events, and more. Our fundraisers help build up the scholarship fund so we can continue to make awards from it. The sale also helps to fund activities such as school enrichment, summer programs, and other County events throughout the year. For more information, check out our website
Fire Inspector Tony Massey attended the Clover Garden School's Career Day on Feb. 9th. So far this year, the Alamance Fire Marshal's Office have conducted 453 fire inspections and found 135 fire code violations. We appreciate their work that contributes to a safer community.
