When Birthright Waikato and Link House partnered up to form Single Parent Services we continued the Birthright system of membership.  This year we are discontinuing membership and replacing it with a free registration system. The change means that we will continue to distribute resources to people parenting alone and we will continue to offer access to counselling, social work services, workshops  For the first time we will make our newsletter available to everyone.   We are grateful for the generosity of funders and individual donors.

We have just over 500 people parenting alone who are registered with our service and continue to offer self referral for parents reaching out for support and awhi.

Our team is proud to offer an accessible service and we are privileged to be able help families face and overcome the barriers and challenges of income inequality, violence and structural discrimination.  The information you share with us is a treasure and we take care of it.

There are many conversations happening about data collection and sharing in Aotearoa.  These can include what is being collected now and what could potentially be collected in the future.  We think it's important that you think about what this could mean for you and your family in the future.

This year we thrilled to be working with five awesome counselling practicum students. Karyn and Tara have returned and are joined by Lucy, Jo & Sarah.  We asked the team for some feedback about being placed at SPSW  and here's what they told us - "SPSW is awesome because it provides me with a sense of community and whanau that embraces and encourages my individuality and professional growth".
The group have awesome future goals that include safe spaces for youth to express themselves and incorporating music with therapy for young people and children.
