Welcome to this month's newsletter for

'Children of the Eucharist'

'The Lamb who was slain, is the Lamb who is risen!  Jesus in the Most Blessed Sacrament is the Lamb of God!!!  Worthy is the Lamb!  O come let us behold Him who has won for us Salvation!  O come let us adore Him, for the Bread of Life – Jesus Eucharistic – is really and personally here!

May Jesus in the Most Blessed Sacrament, the Lamb of Love, be with you and bless you this Easter and always!  May our Lady of the Most Blessed Sacrament, Mother of the Lamb, lead you ever closer to His Eucharistic Heart!'

St. John Paul II

Greetings, one & all,

Whilst we are still in the Easter Season, may I wish you all every joy and happiness.  Jesus is alive!!!  May you all be filled with peace, hope and love always!

‘We are the Easter People and Hallelujah is our song’ – St. John Paul II

Another very busy month for COTE.  I hope you enjoy reading all the updates below!  Keep in touch and let us know the news where you are!

May the love of Christ which, surpasses all understanding remain with you throughout the year!

Together in Christ,

Can our children be Saints? Why not?!!

We join Catholics around the globe, as the world celebrates our newest little Saints Jacinta and Francisco Morto of Fatima, who were canonisaed by Pope Francis on 13th May 2017, exactly 100 years after Our Lady first appeared to the shepherd children, along with their cousin Lucia.

Francisco was only 8 years old and Jacinta had just turned seven in March, when on that morning in May 1917, the children were pasturing their flock as usual at the Cova da Iria, about a mile from their homes. It was there, with one exception, that the Blessed Virgin under the title of Our Lady of the Rosary appeared on six occasions in 1917.

Our Lady chose 3 young children to impart important messages to the world.  All three children exhibited truly – and, given their ages, astonishingly – heroic virtue.  By following the messages communicated to them, their spiritual lives were elevated to the heights of sanctity

We encourage you to pray to Saints Jacinta and Francisco and call on their intercession for all the little children in Ireland and the UK, who take part in the COTE programme and come before Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament.

Saints Jacinta and Francisco, pray for us!

COTE at Our Lady's Shrine in Knock

Children of the Eucharist from all over Ireland took part in the 5th Annual Eucharistic Pilgrimage to Knock on Sunday, 30th April 2017.

His Excellency Bishop Denis Nulty gave the children a big, warm welcome and spend time with them singing, dancing and praising God in the HUB.  The children also got to do arts and crafts, before adoring Jesus in the Most Blessed Sacrament, which was led by Antoinette, finishing off with a special blessing and a few words from Fr. Lawrence Joseph CFR.  Following mass, the children processed around the basilica and the day ended on a high with the release of some balloons.

A heart-warming, uplifting day enjoyed by everyone, not just the children! :-)

COTE Pioneers visit Dominican Priory

Five years ago the current 6th Class of Kentstown N.S. became the Pioneers of COTE in Ireland.  These students have adored Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament each year since and received the Sacrament of Confirmation with great reverence this year.

Antoinette surprised the students and organised for Br. Philip Mulryan to pay them a visit at school one afternoon, to share his testimony and attend adoration with the children.  Br. Philip is a former footballer and played for Man. Utd. and Northern Ireland before God revealed His other plans for him.  Br. Philip is now a deacon with the Domincan Order of Preachers and will be ordained a priest this summer.  So you just imagine how excited the class was to hear his testimony and to adore Jesus together.

The surprise didn't end there.  The Students were granted special permission to visit St. Saviour's Dominican Priory in Dublin where they received a very warm welcome from Br. Philip, Br. Jesse, Br. Kevin and Br, Anthony.  After a tour of the priory, they had their monthly adoration with the Friars.  None of the students had visited a monastery before so enjoyed their afternoon immensely.  Only God knows what seeds mat have been sown that afternoon!

COTE Pilgrimage to Medjugorje

The inaugural COTE pilgrimage to Medjugorje took place from 3rd to 10th May 2017.  It was an incredibly blessed week for all 19 pilgrims.  The pilgrimage was dedicated to the work of the COTE ministry, for all COTE supporters, volunteers and priests involved in the work and most importantly for our children who adore Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament, past, present and future. Copious amounts of prayer and fasting were offered up for these intentions; all in Jesus through Mary.

Fr. Timothy Moran L.C. our Spiritual Director led us in prayer throughout the week.  Fr. Timothy was not the only COTE priest present in Medjugorje, the week we were there.  On our first morning, on the Feast of the English Martyrs, we were delighted to see our good friend Fr. Lee Marshall, on the altar in St. James' church, as the main celebrant.  We visited Fr. Lee's parish in Chesterfield, in England in February and led 450 children in adoration.  Fr. Lee was joined on the altar by his father who is a married deacon.  We were also thrilled to see Fr. Pat O' Donoghue who has been very actively involved in the COTE ministry for the past 3 years in Cobh, in Co. Cork.  Fr. Nigel Ó Galláchoir from Dungloe, Co. Donegal was also concelebrating; COTE started in Fr. Nigel's parish this year.

That evening we had the great pleasure and privilege of having John Pridmore visit our house and share his incredible story of how he experienced God's love and mercy in such an awesome way.  Check out John's incredible story for yourself -

The following morning, which was also the first Friday of the month, Fr. Timothy was invited to be the main celebrant at mass in St. James' church, for all English speaking pilgrims.  This mass for offered up for the COTE ministry and for the intentions of all involved, both young and old.  The readings and the prayers of the faithful were read by members of our pilgrimage group.  This was just one of many, many blessings we experienced during the week.

We celebrated the first Saturday of this month in an unforgettable way.  Together with Laura & Sean, COTE leaders from Derry, we celebrated the first holy communion of their beautiful daughter Ryanna, in the parish and the diocesan shrine of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, in Studenci, approx.15 minutes drive from Medjugorje.  Ryanna tragically  passed away in 2015, aged 6 and so did not get to receive her first holy communion with her classmates this year.  So, Fr. Timothy offered up a special mass for her that morning instead which was followed by a Holy Hour, especially for her too.  Balloons were released afterwards in her honour and like any celebration, we enjoyed a good meal and cake too that night, following the outdoor Parish Holy Hour.  It was such a joy-filled day and we all felt very close to little Ryanna.  We have no doubt Ryanna will now be interceding for all children In the COTE programme who adore Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament.

It was also a week of sharing and fellowship.  We heard some amazing testimonies from Fr. Timothy and  Fr. Lee.  Medjugorje has had such an impact on Fr. Lee's deeper conversion, he has returned both as a pilgrim and as a Spiritual Director, more than 30 times since his first visit around 12 years ago.  Our Lady has a way of calling people back, again and again!

There are too many special moments to mention them all but, a few of the other highlights were the evening prayer programme, followed by a Eucharistic Holy hour, where thousands and thousands of pilgrims are gathered around Jesus in the Eucharist.  Medjugorje is known as the confessional of the world so, a pilgrimage is not complete without going to confession.  We also visited Apparition Hill multiple times and climbed Cross Mountain bare foot.

Our first COTE pilgrimage to Medjugorje was one of joy, spiritual revival, healing, transformation, further conversion and very much a prayer-filled week, We hope this may be the first of many more COTE pilgrimages to the shrine of Our Lady, Queen of Peace.

You can see lots more photos from the Medjugorje pilgrimage on the Gallery page of the COTE website:

Message of Our Lady Queen of Peace 25th September 1995

“Dear Children!  Today I invite you to fall in love with the Most Holy Sacrament of the Altar.  Adore Him, little children, in your parishes and in this way you will be united with the entire world.  Jesus will become your friend and you will not talk of Him like someone whom you barely know.  Unity with Him will be a joy for you and you will become witnesses to the love of Jesus that He has for every creature.  Little children, when you adore Jesus you are also close to me.
Thank you for having responded to my call.”

“One sees clearly only with the heart.
What is essential is invisible to the eye.”

 ͠    The Little Prince   ͠
Antoine de Saint Exupery

‘The Eucharist is the source of the Christian life because whoever shares in it receives the motivation and strength to live as a true Christian.  Christ’s sacrifice on the cross imparts to the believer the dynamism of His generous love.  The Eucharistic banquet nourishes the faithful with the Body and Blood of the divine Lamb sacrificed for us and it gives them the strength to “follow in His footsteps” (cf. 1 Pet 2:21).
