Welcome to the new monthly newsletter for 'Children of the Eucharist'!

“Advent is here. What a marvelous time in which to renew your desire, your nostalgia, your real longing for Christ to come — for him to come every day to your soul in the Eucharist. The Church encourages us: He is about to arrive!”

- St. Josemaria Escriva

A most sincere and heartfelt thanks to all of you who have supported ‘Children of the Eucharist’ this year.  2016 has been another extremely busy year, as the ministry continues to grow, thanks be to God!  We estimate that in excess of 2000 new students have been brought before Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament since September, from all over the island of Ireland.  We have bookings right up until March 2017 and the phone calls and emails continue to come in.    This would not be possible without dedicated volunteers on the ground at parish / school level.  So thank you from the bottom of my heart!  Each Christmas I arrange for Fr. David Jones D.D. to celebrate a mass for all the volunteers and supporters of COTE and for all your intentions.
Wishing you and your families every grace and blessing this Christmas.  May the birth our Saviour fill you all with joy and be your support throughout the New Year!

Together in Christ,

'Children of the Eucharist'

Bishop Phonsie  Cullinan from the Diocese of Waterford and Lismore, joined the 5th - 6th Class of Scoil Teampall Toinne in Ballyporeen, Co. Tipperary on 1st December, as volunteers Nancy Hyland & Catherine Hanley lead the students in the 'Children of the Eucharist' programme.  Bishop Phonsie was very moved by the reverence of the students.
If you haven't already done so, please kindly return your completed COTE Safeguarding forms, as soon as possible.  These forms need to be completed by everyone involved in the Children of the Eucharist programme and are required, in addition to Garda and Police vetting.  Many thanks for your cooperation and understanding!

Bishop of Derry, Bishop Donal McKeown visited our COTE group in Claudy not once but, twice recently.  The first visit was to watch the children of St. Colmcille's N. S. adore Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament.  The second visit was to join the St. Mary Magdalene Scripture Group which, is made up of the Claudy COTE volunteers.  Bishop McKeown was very much inspired by both the children and Volunteers in Claudy involved in COTE.
COTE starts in Scotland!
In April this year, we were invited by the Craig Lodge Family House of Prayer, situated in the Highlands of Scotland, to introduce COTE to their family week retreat during Easter week.  It was a big hit with everyone, especially the parents.  So much so, a number of them returned home and asked their local priests and principals if COTE could be introduced to their schools.  This resulted in 5 schools being part of a pilot programme, to introduce COTE in Scotland, which took place in November.  It was a great success!  Praise God!  We thank you for all your prayers and ask that you continue to pray for the growth of the ministry in Scotland!
Below are 2 profound quotes from children during adoration which really moved us...

"Let the Body of Christ compel you"

"Will you be my servant?"
This month's

Please pray for Kalize, a 5 year old girl from Letterkenny who is on a life support machine in Crumlin.  Please also pray for a young man called James in Co. Tyrone.

Please pray especially for the children past, present and future who adore Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament  in the COTE programme and all the volunteers who help make this possible.

If you have any special intention you would like us to pray for next month, please send the details to

“The Eucharist completes the restoration begun in the Crib.  Make merry therefore on this beautiful day, on which the sun of the Eucharist is rising.  Let your gratitude never separate the Crib from the Altar, the Word made flesh from the God-Man made Bread of Life in the Most Blessed Sacrament.”
