PGOSA Prevails at Walking Soccer

Congrats to the PGOSA Men's Walking Soccer team who finished first at the Victoria Invitational Walking Soccer Tourney On October 15th.  They went undefeated, finishing  4-0. Way to represent PGOSA and Oceanside, guys!

It was a very hot Indoor Arena and the players got out of their uniforms before a team picture could be taken, but team members were Vladimir Samozvanov , Andrew Dunham, Rob Henry, Harry Hubball, Ed Chen, David Perry and Rob Jonas.

Walking Soccer continues to grow across the Province and offers different skill levels for players. Check it out at www.vanislewalkingsoccer.org and consider doing a drop in at Arbutus Meadows to check it out..

PGOSA General Meeting

Giving everyone advanced notice of the next General Meeting for members – all are invited so mark the date and time on your calendars and plan around it!

Wednesday, November 16th – 7:00 pm at The Bradley Centre in Coombs

General Meetings are where the PGOSA Board of Directors conduct their organizational business in public.  Members can pose questions or concerns and can comment on business being discussed. If needed, Motions from the floor can be made and voted on.  Looking forward to seeing you there!
Organizations are dynamic, fluid and always changing depending upon their leadership and the wishes of their members.  Don’t be a bystander – get Involved and be part of the leadership who leads and guides PGOSA.  New ideas, new blood, new activities are possible but it takes someone with some drive to get things going!  Be that person who sparks new activities or provides support at the Board level for PGOSA activities.

First Aid Workshop

Just a reminder that PGOSA will be holding a First Aid workshop on Monday, November 7th from 9:00 am to 4:30 pm so we can have trained a couple of members for each activity or sport.

We would like two people from the major activities trained in Emergency First Aid – they would become designated First Aiders if there was an incident/accident while participating in an activity.
The workshop will be conducted by a First Alert trainer and covers CPR with and without an AED.

Participants must be referred by their Activity Manager who will forward participant names to course organizer Doug Williams.

No cost as PGOSA will cover registration and provide a lunch!

Membership Registration

Registration for PGOSA membership is now at Oceanside Place Arena in the front lobby, just beside the entrance door. We are now there every Wednesday morning – 9:30 to 11:00 am. There may be periodic cancellations due to other events at the Arena. Check the PGOSA calendar.

Curling at Parksville Curling Rink

Curling on PGOSA COED recreational teams has started this fall, with play on Thursday mornings from 11:15 to 1:15 pm at the Parksville Curling Club in Parksville Community Park.

We are full for regular league  players but spares always needed. If you are a curler and would like to play a few games, email Jim Powell (trijim@shaw.ca) to get on the spare list.

Looking for an activity to wear off that Thanksgiving dinner?

PGOSA has an activity for you!
Check out all of the options on our website pgosa.org. Contact the Activity Manager for your sport or social activity for more details.
Or are you looking for some social activities to get a break from all that exercise? (Although I am pretty sure that you can be social AND get some exercise at Line Dancing!)

Cards and other Games

Join us for Wednesday afternoon Games Day. Popular games are Cribbage and Mexican Train (a dominos type game).

Other card games are welcome, as is table tennis for anyone wanting some physical exercise.  Chess has also been suggested but so far there haven’t been any takers or participants who would like to play. We have lots of space so the various games can spread out and not bother those who need a quieter atmosphere.
Coffee and treats are served so the afternoon becomes an enjoyable social time.

Location:  The Studio at the Bradley Center
Days:  2nd and 4th Wednesdays of the month
Time: 1:30 to 3:30 pm
Fee: $2.00 drop in fee and membership at Bradley Center - $5.00 per year for an annual membership
