November 2019 Newsletter

Dear <<First Name>>,

On trees, the good news is that the need for a radical tree planting strategy is firmly on the agenda of all political parties. With that in mind, our Zero Carbon Homes report was sent to all political parties in Wales. We also had a very productive meeting with Dominic Driver, the new Head of Land Stewardship at NRW - leaving us with much optimism that we will soon see a lot more trees planted in Wales.

On housing, we’re really pleased to be supporting the Good Homes Alliance in launching their pioneering Vanguard Campaign in Wales. The purpose of the Vanguard Campaign is to share practitioner learning and best practice in delivering zero carbon homes in social and private housing. I will be talking about our work on measuring as-built performance and whole-life carbon in some of the Home-Grown Homes exemplar projects. I hope to see you there – at the Design Commission for Wales on the 5th December.

The work of Woodknowledge Wales and our members, in seeking the transformation of Wales into a high-value forest nation, is gaining huge traction. It’s a very exciting time to be involved in forestry and timber construction. Please review the updates below to discover more about what’s been going on.

Finally, we are looking forward to working with our latest new member United Welsh, to help them deliver zero carbon timber homes from the Welsh supply chain.

Chief Executive, Woodknowledge Wales Ltd

Saw-Dry-Rip a technique for smaller Welsh sawmills?
