July 2019 Newsletter
Becoming a high-value forest nation

Dear <<First Name>>,

It was uplifting to see so many stakeholders from across the supply chain attending WoodBUILD 2019 to discuss how Wales becomes a high-value forest nation. A summary of the event along with the presentations are available on our website and Confor have invited three of the speakers from WoodBUILD to take part at the Royal Welsh Show on 23 July.  Lots of action points were identified during the event and we will be chasing up on these in the following months.

The Zero Carbon Homes report, commissioned by Welsh Government and delivered by Woodknowledge Wales, provides a strategic action plan to transform the use of home-grown timber in house building. The actions seek to increase supply chain integration, encourage a focus on producing high-value construction products and address the chronic lack of tree planting in Wales. Why not join us on 23 July at the Royal Welsh Show in Builth Wells where the report will be formally launched with Confor and Lesley Griffiths, Welsh Government Minister for Environment, Energy and Rural Affairs.
Finally, a warm welcome to new member, Pobl. We are truly building a collaborative membership from forest to home, capable of delivering for the environment, the economy and the people of Wales.

Gary Newman
Chief Executive, Woodknowledge Wales Ltd
