Dear AFP Members and Guests,
What a busy month for our chapter!
On Thursday, June 3, we heard from Michele Bignardi, CFRE, CSPG and Constance Maguire, MA, MGMT, CFRE, Senior Vice Presidents from Netzel Grigsby Associates, speak on the “Role of the Board in Fundraising” for our monthly webinar series. This topic was very timely considering our board are crucial in everyday fundraising that is performed for the organizations we work for. It is so important to educate and train board members the importance of fundraising in our community. They are our ambassadors for our organizations and crucial to leading the way in philanthropy. We are very thankful to Michele and Connie speaking at our AFP webinar and would love to have them back at future events!
Next, we held our AFP Symposium on Tuesday, June 8, in partnership with the Santa Barbara/Ventura Counties Chapter. The event was a huge success with 60 attendees and members from the LA and Orange County chapters as well. We are so thankful to our speakers that spoke at our symposium and I would like to specifically thank Joy McKee, ACFRE, Gerardo Pantoja and Niki Richardson, for their incredible work creating such a fantastic event. Also, I need to recognize Annabel Secaida, our AFP Administrator, who worked tirelessly to make sure our event went off without any hitches. Thank you Annabel!
If you missed the AFP Symposium and paid the registration, we have the recording available, so please contact firstname.lastname@example.org
to receive the link.
During the month of July, our AFP Chapter is taking a break, but I encourage all of our committees to continue to meet and plan for the Fall season. Also, some important follow up items that I would like to touch on…
During the AFP Symposium, the GSFV and Santa Barbara/Ventura Counties Chapters put together a CFRE Study Group. This group will be meeting regularly and if you are interested in being a part of this, please contact Shade Mokuolu at email@example.com
since she will be leading this group moving forward. I highly encourage anyone interested in taking the CFRE to join this group!
Mark your calendars!
We have our next AFP Webinar event on Thursday, August 5, from 12 PM - 1:30 PM,
featuring Kristina McGee, Program Officer, speaking on The Annenberg Foundation and The Alchemy Academy, so please join us!
Our Chapter will be hosting another event on Tuesday, August 24, in partnership with the Orange County Chapter. This event will be led by Brandi Junious from the USC Race and Equity Center, on the topic of Salary Equity (invite is below). But first, we need to gain the knowledge needed to drive programming, and track our progress…we need to hear from YOU!
We invite you to share your experiences on the topic of salary equity
in an anonymous survey about inclusion, diversity, equity, and access at your organization. Start Now >>
Your information will assist our chapter and the other groups involved in developing policies and programs to advance IDEA in our local community. Please help us by filling out the survey by June 30th!
Last, but certainly not least, I want to thank our members and encourage our guests to please consider being a part of our chapter. As many of you have seen, we’ve been putting on incredible and inspiring events, but we want to grow our membership. Please reach out to Cathy Galarneau, our Membership Chair, at firstname.lastname@example.org
, if you would like to learn more about joining our chapter.
Please have a great summer and continue to stay safe!
