"Stō is an ultra-portable kick scooter that folds to fit in your backpack. Co-founded by Victoria Napolitano along with our Sherman Center superstars Jack Streed and Ben Frothingham, Stō empowers urban commuters with portable, comfortable, and sustainable transportation. Folding seamlessly from a full-sized adult kick scooter, it is the smallest and lightest on the market. We won the 2020 mechanical engineering capstone Gorlov Prize for Innovation and the 2021 Husky Startup Challenge. Stō was a design and production client for Scout and is a Set Stage venture in IDEA. Last year, I was a semifinalist for the inaugural Women Who Empower Innovator Award. We plan to patent our designs, finalize our latest prototype, and perform user testing. Catch us riding around! " - (Victoria Napolitano)

Extra Credit with Professor Mark Sivak! 📝

"Here I share something design or tech related from the week for those looking for just a little extra credit."

As we start Women’s History Month, I wanted to share some awesome women designers with this article. One of the most famous design duos of all time is Ray and Charles Eames but due to her first name, lots of people mistake Ray for a man! She played a vital role in lots of modern designs including the famous Eames chair.

This article also mentions the book “Woman Made: Great Women Designers” by Jane Hall which I recommend and if Ted is reading this we should get a copy for the Sherm. Lastly, this article ends with some notable young women designers, check out their work!

As a bonus for the end of Black History Month here is an excellent resource to find black designers to follow on Twitter.
Thoughts and feedback about the extra credit this week or want to submit one for next week? Email Professor Sivak at m.sivak@northeastern.edu.

Stay Tuned for Season 6 Episode 3 of the ShermCast with host Alex and Makayla.
