Happy Friday, Huskies! This week, we are looking into one of Generate's amazing projects, Artic Vision. Plus, we have a few new updates!

Introducing Arctic Vision 🥽

"Arctic Vision is a project aiming to integrate artificial reality (AR) technology inside ski goggles. Using our clients’ end product, someone going down a mountain on skis or a snowboard could be informed of key information without needing to take off their gloves to look at their phone. The goggles will display speed, and location on the trail, and even be given directions to avoid venturing down trails they may not be experienced enough for.

Our electro-mechanical team has done some great work so far this semester. We’ve designed a frame capable of integrating the team’s necessary electrical components and are working towards making this product have all the added features of AR, without compromising on aesthetic appearance."  ( - James Hon)

Team Members: James Hon, Maya Senescu, Tracy Qiu, Matias Dermond, Paige Langdale, Kevin McGuire, and Max Langweil,

Extra Credit with Professor Mark Sivak! 📝

Here I share something design or tech related from the week for those looking for just a little extra credit.

This week is yet another podcast, sorry not sorry because it is great. This week’s episode of Cautionary Tales is about an electric car turned electric peddle bike and the choices that lead to its failure. Cautionary Tales comes from Tim Harford, who will certainly be back in Extra Credit at some point for his TED talks.

The podcast is so good because the stories are compelling, and you can follow and cringe at some of the bad luck and poor choices the protagonists make. In this specific episode, that person is Sir Clive Sinclair, an electronics genius who had a lasting impact on computing. Give it a listen to hear about the fate of his C5 back in 1985.

Thoughts and feedback about the extra credit this week or want to submit one for next week? Email Professor Sivak at
