Rethinking the Sherm Effort: Updates ✍️

In efforts to further one of the Sherman Center’s goals to strive to be an inclusive community, an undergraduate research team was formed to create and present a list of suggestions and recommendations to the Center’s Director. Through the team’s outstanding work, many suggestions were made. The final document presented included ways in which our Center could increase our community’s productivity and environment through small suggestions like adding real plants, decluttering and maximizing the full extent of our space.
More long term suggestions were also included, such as increasing accessibility for those with disabilities and low visibility by highlighting textures on glass walls and doors, as well as installing automatic door openers. Throughout the Spring semester, the Sherman Center hopes to incorporate both short term and long term suggestions in order to continue to be a more inclusive community.

Third-year Psychology Major, Minor: Environmental Studies
"I started Rooted Living my freshman year of college after being frustrated by the lack of sustainability in the snack industry. Forty percent of the plastic produced today is for packaging alone. After being appalled that there were no other options I could find, I decided to make my own truly sustainable and absolutely delicious snacks.

By the end of this co-op, I hope to have scaled Rooted Living from producing 1k units of granola at a time to 10k units! Now that I have a team of 4, I think that this will be one of the most successful semesters Rooted Living has ever had."
