Surface Combat Systems Center, Wallops Island Annual Veterans Day Dinner

A new friend I met recently at the YMCA invited Alice and me to the annual veteran's dinner at Wallop's Island. Joel Greenwald, a native of NYC, was in the Army Reserves.  After leaving the military, he became a professional musician studying at Julliard's.  Joel has written and produced several hit records while playing in the Randy Carlos Band.  One of his famous hits was Whistling Mambo which he wrote while playing in the Carlos band.  He now lives in Atlantic on the Eastern Shore and plans on visiting the DBC on Harvest day with his wife.
The DBC school store is coming along nicely.  You can see the supplies gathered so far on the left image.  It is a fine start, however; when placed in perspective it is easy to see that the shelves are still relatively bare.  The Dream Team will open the store to the teachers of the Accawmacke Elementary School in January so please continue to bring any school supplies to the school storeroom in the fellowship hall.
Also, don't forget to bring any morning breakfast items for the teachers this Sunday.  Anyone who would like to assist in the delivery to the school should meet at the church at 7:00 am this Monday, November 12, 2018
Pastor Feedback Survey
The ushers will pass out a quick survey form this Sunday morning to give the pastor a little feedback on elements of the morning service.  Please take a minute to check the boxes, and then pass the form back to the ushers.  Thanks.  Dr. Denny
I was able to stop by the Food Bank recently and gather a month's supply of essential food for a family in the church.  There were 10 frozen chickens, fresh produce, vegetables, bread and a variety of sweets for the children. Thanks, Food Bank!

Todd and Sherry Brown invited Alice and me to Janet's for lunch recently.  We enjoyed getting to know this interesting couple.  Todd is a local artist and Sherry works as the chaplain at the local hospice center in Onley.

Operation Christmas Child
A great assembly of excited workers gathered Wednesday evening at church to stuff the Christmas boxes for Operation Christmas Child.  Everyone had a wonderful evening and many boxes were prepared for the children abroad.  There will be a Sunday morning dedication this Sunday, November 11, 2018.
Final Assorted items of interest:
1.  John Paragallo of the Peragallo Pipe Organ Company will set up a meeting soon to discuss creative ways to proceed with the organ repairs.  Please pray that this will go well.  Everyone in the church wants to see the windows and the organ restored to their original brilliance.

2.  I have started preparing a 5-Minute Sermon audio of the Sunday sermon.  Anyone can find it by going to my website at Blaktiepress.com.  Just use the menu item "sermons."  You can also locate it by going to the church Facebook page.

3.  I am looking for some guitar players for the morning service.  I thought it would be useful to sing a few simple choruses during our informal period at the beginning of the worship hour just before we all shake hands.  Can you play the guitar?  I need you!

4.  Alice thanks everyone who helped her after her recent surgery.

5.  I miss you Antoine and Jane Hobeika.  Hurry back from Virginia Tech.

6.  See everyone Sunday!
