On this special day we are celebrating the strength and empowerment of migrant women with the launch of an online dance challenge to unite all women around maternity rightsand protection.

In addition to celebrating the strength of migrant mothers who come to PathFinders when they are at their most vulnerable and in need of support to find a path to a safe and bright future for their child, we would also like to acknowledge our incredible PathFinders Ambassadors. Inspiring women leaders within the foreign domestic worker community who spend their limited and valuable time to learn about maternity rights, prevention of unplanned pregnancies and love scams. And then spread this knowledge to others in their community.

A majority of the 390,000 FDWs employed in Hong Kong are of childbearing age. Many lack reproductive health knowledge and often need a health perception towards love and relationships. There is also a well held misconception all children born in Hong Kong will receive permanent residency status.
Through our Train the Trainer workshops we provide bespoke training to each Ambassador to empower them to professionally deliver PathFinders' messages with confidence, accurately, confidentially and in a way that is culture sensitive. Ambassadors are then mobilised with tailored materials to hold outreach events and workshops within the community.
Currently we have 32 PathFinders Ambassadors, inspiring women leaders who are empowering FDWs in their community about the importance of making well-informed life decisions whilst working in Hong Kong. These wonderful women enable us at to expand our outreach, amplify our messages and sign post our services.
Support Our Ambassadors!
To help us scale and sustain our outreach and meet our 2020 target of training 80 PathFinders Ambassadorswe’re seeking donations of any amount, large or small. For example:
HK$1,250 could train one Ambassador to empower her peers and identify vulnerable babies, children and women who may need PathFinders' support
HK$12,000 could train a whole team of passionate women to become Community Leaders to lead the change in their communities
It's (almost!) Business as Usual Protecting maternity and children's rights 365 days of the year!
Last year 501 migrant women sought our help to realise their maternity rights and support to find a path to a bright and sustainable future for their children. Through our Client Services we improved the lives of 925 vulnerable babies, children and women by providing advice and counselling, access to healthcare, essential supplies, emergency shelter and legal support.
Whilst many across Hong Kong have been cancelling initiatives or working from home, our frontline team has continued to welcome new clients, hold regular health clinics, accompany clients to critical appointments and distribute essential supplies. Pregnant women and newborn babies cannot wait, so our team have worked against all odds and where possible embraced technology to make sure Hong Kong’s most vulnerable children continue to be protected.
