January, 2017
New year, new look. Hope you like it.

You know the thing that keeps me hopeful in this new year? It's YOU! It is knowing that our FamilyWorks community is a powerful one and it is believing that if we stick together we can make some very positive things happen.

You have given so much in 2016 of your time, your resources, your support and it has had a profound impact on the lives of thousands of struggling households. We all wish to thank you whole-heartedly for giving so very generously and for nourishing, connecting and empowering our families!

As former President Obama requested in his farewell speech, we have to believe in our ability to bring about change. We see positive change in the lives of families every day as people get connected to resources like food and other support that they need. Now, we have to unite to protect peoples' rights, protect programs that matter, protect our community and the dignity that all deserve. Let's do it! More info to come on that.

With gratitude,
Jake Weber, Executive Director

Headed For Greatness!

We welcomed our first FW Baby of 2017 with open arms. Set up with food, diapers, clothing, a stroller, a WIC appointment and more, we are delighted to be a part of this family’s adventure and a promising future for the baby and family.
Thanks, again, for your support so that these resources are available to children and families in the community.

Taking Action!

Food Bank staffers Mike Cox and Billy McLendon met with legislators in Olympia at this week's Hunger Action Day. Meanwhile, City Council Members O'Brien, Juarez and Johnson have visited FamilyWorks and join us in our concern about increasing hunger in the north end and working toward solutions. We are proud to be a part of this Sanctuary City!

Thank You!

From the Food Bank
Holidays are often a hard time for many of our participants. Due to the actions of many in our community people felt less alone by the gifts, food and support they received over the Holiday. There was 58,000 pounds of food collected and distributed in December.
"I was able to invite my extended family over for Christmas Dinner for the first time in a very long time because of the turkey and trimmings from the food bank and we were able to celebrate together." - Food Bank Participant
