City of Wanneroo June
Racemeet Update!

The race gods were upon us this day with an absolutely glorious day at Barbagallo Raceway. Was chilly in the morning to unload all the gear and cars but smiles were a plenty as it was raceday.
City of Wanneroo Racemeet Street Car Association of WA 18th June 2017

Qualifying came up and we had a early exit from Grant who had a random fuel line issue. That was resolved but he missed out on qualy. Denver achieved a PB with a stonking 61.1 second lap. Paul was just behind with a 62.4 and Brad a smidge behind him with a 62.6. Craig also held a PB in his Wrx with a 63.7. New comer Nick in his Targa winning Evo popped up with a 65.1. Jason, Peter and Drew all qualified within 1.2 seconds of each other. The whole class qualifying within 5.5 seconds of each other!

Race 1 the top 3 guys had a great tussle and ended with Brad claiming 1st, Denver 2nd and Paul 3rd. Peter in his 300zx unfortunately had a issue which cut his race short.

Race 2 after lunch was a strange one. Brad was awarded a 5 second penalty for a jump start, Paul and Brad came close to each other and Paul dropped back into the pits to check his tyres, Grant buried himself in turn 6 sand trying to avoid a sports sedan competitor which resulted in a 3 lap safety car period which ended with a 1 lap sprint to the end. Brad ended up first over the line but dropped to 3rd with his penalty, Denver took out first and Craig popped up to second.

Race 3 saw a real mix grid as the usual front runners were placed towards the rear of the grid based upon cumulative points. Craig shot off to a early lead off the start but was reeled in by Denver, Brad and Paul by the end of the race. A really close race with the whole field relatively close at the end of the race. Denver, Paul and Brad took out 1st, 2nd and 3rd respectively.

Congratulations to Denver who took out 1st for the meet, Brad 2nd and Craig 3rd with Paul just 2 points behind in 4th.

Sticker Placement

We now have all our sponsor partner stickers printed and if you are missing any please let Paul Kluck know. There will be spares at teh next race meet.

Please ensure that minor sponsor stickers are placed from the back of the front door to the front of the car. If there is no room for them to fit there then the front bumper area is acceptable.

RAC Facades major sticker should be as close to the racing number on your door as possible on both sides of the car.

Window banners are to be displayed at all times.

A-Frames for Race Garages

We have secured an awesome deal with Word Of Mouth Signs to produce
A-frame signs at a special member price. These signs will be the metal
A-frame with a replaceable corflute sign of your cars specifications and driver information.

These will be at a member cost of $55.00 which has been subsidised by the association as well.

We would like to endeavour to keep these signs universal to the category with our logos etc on them, so if you are interested in ordering please contact your category Representative Craig to organise the graphic design for the order.

We encourage all members to have one of these signs in order to promote our cars at the garages and draw attention to the builds, whilst further promoting the category.

Hankook Control Tyres

The Hankook Control Tyre is still being tested as we commence the 2017 season.

Please continue to provide us with feedback on how your tyres are wearing through heat cycles. Stuart from Perth Motorsport Tyres will be at the track for the Sunday meet for all your tyre requirements.

Street Car Racing Association of WA, in association with Perth Motorsport Tyres, have secured a tyre sponsorship with Hankook Competition Tyres.

The Z221 R-comp tyre will now be our control tyre for 2017! Not only this but for racing financial members of SCRAWA, we have enabled a massive discount off the price as well! This is massive news and will save our racers huge amounts of money throughout the year.

Head on over to our website and fill out your membership form as well as your tyre size you will be using for the year.

If you have been questioning the cost of racing door to door or know of people that may be interested to come and race with one of the fastest categories in the state, contact Craig Maloney, our category representative for more information
