President's Boost

Hi all SCRAWA Members.

Sorry for not being at first meeting of the season due to my Mothers health. I have however had a look on Natsoft and given the greasy/damp conditions on Saturday, some very impressive lap times where recorded.

I note 16 starters for first race but unfortunately a number of DNS for race 3 and 10 starters. I hope nothing to serious and all back on track in April. I do intend being at April meeting. A good haul of points for the first round with Brad leading Denver and Paul, with Mark, Jason and Drew not far behind… then Andrew, Peter and Grant.

Once again a fantastic effort by all whom entered this first meeting……….

And remember the golden racing tip…..
if you want to stay in front…….
just block like Verstappen………

Kind Regards Kelvin

SETS Nightmasters 18th March

Nightmasters wrap up!

It started out a dismal day for weather but the afternoon saw the last of the showers dissipate and it was race time

.

Street cars saw 9 cars grid after a couple of late withdrawals. Qualifying went off without a hitch with Andrew Stevens qualifying fastest with a 60.91 second lap

Race 1 saw a combined grid with sports sedans with a total of 16 cars. The race began with some biffo at turn one, but all recovered and the race was won by Andrew Stevens in his 180sx. Brad Cuss came in 2nd and Denver Parker in 3rd place. The 2nd and 3rd place tussle was reflected throughout the laps mirroring each other’s lap times to with .2 of a second of each other.

Race 2 Another great race start, unfortunately we lost Andrew Stevens to a diff blowout, Grant Sealey to injector troubles and Peter Robinson was struggling all meet with a bad misfire. The race was won by Brad Cuss, 2nd to Denver Parker and 3rd to Paul Kluck in his very impressive newly completed Nissan skyline.

Race 3 was under lights and had no shortage of highlights. In the first laps a piece of debris took out Laurie’s RX7 from sports sedans with a completely destroyed windscreen. The tussle continued between Denver’s land whale and Brad’s S15, with the later laps Paul Kluck really chasing them down and pushing some fast lap times for a final race of the day. The final laps saw contact in the esses between Drew Watkins 180sx and a sports sedan competitor. Drew was thankfully able to complete the race. Mark Conacher and Jason Hallam both completed all three races without incident and are growing in confidence and speed. Unfortunately Grant Sealey did not make it out of the pits due to an electrical gremlin. The race saw Denver 1st, Brad 2nd and Paul 3rd.

Unfortunately due to clerical error and mis-communication our winners did not receive their trophies after a day of long fought battles on the track. The Association cannot apologise enough for this and it will be rectified to ensure our members hard work is acknowledged and or community celebrates all that racing brings to us and our race family!

Outright for the day our winner was Brad Cuss, Denver Parker in 2nd and Paul Kluck 3rd for the SETS Nightmasters Meet. Congratulations to all drivers, pit crews and the like.

A huge thank you to our naming rights sponsor RAC Facades for their support this year to the Street Car Association of WA 2017 Championship. Also to our new tyre sponsor , Perth Motorsport Tyres, for the Hankook Australia Control tyre which everyone reported fantastic things about through the duration of the meet.

To our other supporting partners Total Vet CareSBM FinancialHyperdrive and Freightshop, Thankyou for your support now and throughout the coming season.

The next meet is The Shack’s Autumn Classic on 23rd April. With a few more cars near completion and some of the missing cars to make this meet we should have a great size grid to really put Street Cars back on the map at Barbagallo.

See you all at the track!

Hankook Control Tyres

March Update

So with race season upon us Perth Motorsport Tyres have been busy importing all the tyres required by our members.

Due to the sheer number of tyres required, Hankook actually ran out of 255/40/17 tyres in the country! The committee has successfully had as many tyres as possible shipped into the state. Some members have graciously said they will go down a tyre size just to make sure we all have enough tyres to go round.

All your tyre requirements can be handled by visiting Stuart at Perth Motorsport Tyres, at 7 Mead St, Kalamunda. Stuart will also be at the track to help out with all your race needs!
